The next morning, while the golden rays of the first sun were still below the horizon, Joe and Lincitese left the bunk house. It was still gloomy out, and it was difficult to see even the most noticable of objest. "It should be easy to get in!" Lincitese pointed out, "The guard is fast asleep." "Shhh!" Joe urgently shushed Lincitese, "I swear, you are the most noisy guardian there is!!" The snoring guard jostled in his slumber, but didn't wake up. Lincitese let out a sigh of relief, as they tip-toed past him, the guards laser guns hanging from his belt. Without Lincitese seeing, Joe slipped one under his torn shirt. He hadn't had a new one since his mother had died... Don't cry! he thought in his head. He had to be strong if he wanted to avenge his mother's restless soul. Lincitese lite the way using one of her unique gifts, the gift of light. The heavy doors creaked as they opened them carefully, the musty smell of human waste and decay hit their noses full blast. Joe nearly doubled over. It was even darker inside than it was outside, absolutly no light could penetrate this darkness. Inside you could here the moans and the cries of the prisoners. "Why have they never tried to escape?" pondered Lincitese. "Look at them, they have been brainwashed and are totally in fear of Lord Zernon." Joe tried to explain, but found it difficult. Just then, an icy cold hand grasped Joes in the darkness. "You should not come! All that lies within is death and distruction!" an old and frail voice cautioned to the boy and his fairy.
