The next thing that I heard was the phone ringing. It sounded so loud. I went over to pick up the phone and a wave of nausea swept over me. It was all I could do to keep from throwing up. Bob here I mumbled. I noticed that I was wearing a skirt made from pampas grass, and I had a crown of some other kind of plant material on my head.

“It’s great, simply great” someone was shouting in my ear. “Ugh: was all I could mutter. My head was throbbing. “It’s the best thing that we’ve seen in years” he was shouting. “The plot is totally different than anything out there and the way you have the game access the database is so novel. You get different action in the same scenes each time you go through. It’s going to be a hit.”

I muttered something into the phone again. “We’ve sent you a contract by email and can have an advance check of $250,000 in the mail this afternoon.”

“Who is this?” I finally asked. Why it’s Bill. “Did you sent this to other companies? He almost screamed. “Just because we rejected you last couple of tried, you don’t have to go elsewhere. We can offer you a bigger advance. I’ll send you a check for $500,000. And you know that we offer the most generous royalties in the business. If anybody offers you more money, we’ll beat their offer just call me back and we’ll do whatever it takes to get this game out by the Christmas season. We’re all going to be rich”

I stumbled over to my computer and checked my email. I had a couple hundred messages. I found the one from Bill and was trying to read it while he babbled in my ear. He kept asking “Do we have a deal?” Do we have a deal?” I said that I’d have to call him back. “Alright, $1,000,000. We’ll wire you an advance check for “$1,000,000” as soon as we have the contract.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I had no choice but to agree. I found the email that I had sent to Bill and looked at the attachment. It was a long document. I started to read it and knew that it was my work. I felt that I had experienced this game, not just written a proposal for an idea. It was so detailed. It included programming details, screen shots of some of the characters, detailed explanations and examples. It was much more thorough then the proposals that I had tried to submit before.

“Wow, this is really good!” I said out loud. I finally wrote something that is good. I was holding my stick again as I headed for the fridge and another glass of wine. Hair of the dog I though to myself. There wasn’t any wine in the fridge. I must have really tied one on last night I though to myself. I went to find another box or wine, but they were all empty. I had just thrown the empty boxes out on the porch. I headed for the bathroom to get some aspirin. I had a killer headache. How long had I been drinking I wondered.

My stomach was still pretty upset, so my breakfast consisted of aspirin and soothing pink Pepto-Bismol.

How it changed my life:

I think that I need some pepto bismol
