Small white crystals fall from the sky
Covering the world that we once knew
They stick to the trees and the plants like glue
The ground is no longer visible
The cats are all inside curled at my feet
They run whenever the door is opened for fear it is snow they might meet
The playgrounds are empty, for recess has been taken indoors
Gloves, hats and scarves have been taken from their summers drawers
It is only October and already 4 to 6 inches we face
With a Winter Wonderland we are graced
The children will build snow familys in the yard
When they are done its warm blankets and hot chocolate for us all
A good movie for them and a relaxing book for me
And 10 minutes later we will do it all over again
