The Faithful Hound

This is an old legend I got from a book.

In the 13th Century Prince Llywelyn had a palace at Beddgelent in Norht Gwynedd (London). He went hunting, as he did every day but on this day his leader of his pack of dogs was nowhere to be found. He searched high and low for the hound and found him nowhere. So he went hunting without him and took the other dogs. When he came home he found his pack leader "Gelert", he was in one of the bedrooms with its jaws dripping with blood. He immediately thought of his baby son and raced to the other side of the room where he couldnt find his son, only the tipped over cot. He stabbed his dog Gelert in fury, assuming the dog had attacked his child and eaten him. Just has he pulled the knife out of his dogs heart he heard a whimper, his baby crawled from under the fallen cot and next to it was a half covered wolf that Gelert must have faithfully killed! In Guilt, the Prince buried his dog in the front of his garden and still to this day, it gets thousands of visitors a year that come to see the faithful hounds grave site.
