My Grandma's cat died this afternoon, and when I went over to see if she was really gone, she had these bugs crawling all over her- small fly like things... and small wormy wiggling things. There were many of them, and some of the small fly things landed on me, and being the easily freaked out person I am, I screamed and started running around... that was quite a scene, but thats not the point. The cat seemed to have died no longer than 15-30 minutes before I went downstairs, and the rigor mortis had already set in. She's an indoor cat, and therefore these bugs couldnt have come from outside. I'm thinking some of them are maggots, but I could be wrong. My grandma says that they're some sort of bugs inside everything/everybody caused by your blood and come out when you die, but that seemed kind of farfetched to me. I'd like some help finding information on these things, and I apologize for making anyone whose reading this sick. :) I'm really confused, and grossed out. Although the cat's up at the vet in the freezer thing, there's still some of these creepy-crawlies around. Thanks for reading, and please help!

Date: 10/5/2002 5:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 23731    maggots come from fly eggs so if there was a fly in the house it could have landed on the cat and started breeding. and if the cat had been sick they could have started breeding why before the cat died.
