I had mentioned in another post that I have another kittten at home now,and I have to say that she had fleas!! I called the vet and since she is only 7 weeks old I was not sure about what to use,I was told to bathe the kitten using warm water and palmolive dish soap. She said there is something in the soap that seems to work. I am glad to have found out about this flea removal tip and I wanted to share it with all of you, since it worked so nicely.Do any of you have any other flea removal tips for kittens/puppies that you may have heard of? I would like to hear what worked for you on animals not old enough for the regular removers :D

*******Sorry forgot to mention, you will have to pick the dead fleas out afterwards, and one or two may still be alive but sluggish ,you pick them out and throw them into the used water.

Date: 10/5/2002 4:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    I hope that this question isn't too retarded, but can you somehow maybe put the Palmolive into the carpet and upholstery to get the ones that are in your house out? B.Monkey13

Date: 10/5/2002 5:02:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 44321    You stick the soap right on the fur and scrub it in. I never knew you could use dishsoap like that LOL me and the hubbys aunt were calling the kitten Madge, like the lady on the old commercial that said you can soak in it
Date: 10/5/2002 5:03:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 44321    B.Monkey13 I am not too sure if you can do that if you want to ry it let me know how it works out. No question is retarded when you need to know something
Date: 10/5/2002 5:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    hmmm never had to deal with fleas. BUT according to my vet NEVER use the 'flea collars' no matter what their age! the insecticide or whatever that is on them does not just kill/repel fleas but harms the animal as well...
Date: 10/5/2002 5:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    my dad used to wash the dog/cat and sit there for like an hour after with tweezers and find them and kill them.. they tend to cluster in certian areas(areas what are usually warm) and right after a bath then tend to be up all around the head(to keep from getting wet)
Date: 10/5/2002 6:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 27215    Yes this does work very good and you can also use Dawn. That is all that I have used for years and years and we don't have a problem with fleas. We have two indoor cats and you know how they feel about those baths, but they sure don't have any fleas. Thanks for posting this so that others will know how good that it works..........
Date: 10/5/2002 9:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 22852    I have always used dish soap, even on my grown up dogs. It kills the fleas and is doft on my hands..LOL
Date: 10/5/2002 9:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 22852    Soft, I meant to type soft.. LOL
Date: 10/5/2002 9:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 50364    The vet told my mom to use baking soda on the carpets to get rid of fleas she said it smothers them. Chelelea
Date: 10/6/2002 1:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 26452    Wow I didn't know that, I have 4 cats, but I've never had any problems with fleas, but I'll definitly remember this if we ever do.
Date: 10/6/2002 5:34:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 44321    It was nasty to see all the fleas running toward the head, but we got them all out.I have the sister to my hubbys aunts 2 kittens.I had never heard of dishsoap on cats until yesterday,I am glad to have found it out LOL I even told her after we washed the kittens that when I got home I was going to share my new found tip here we had a total of 3 7week old kittens with fleas,we were soaked by the time we were done LOL
