Date: 10/3/2002 11:43:00 PM From Authorid: 39258 It's so weird you bring this up. Within the next few months (sooner than later) we are going to a shelter to get a dog. I know I will feel bad when I see all the animals I can't take home. I kinda want something a little older, just because everyone wants the small puppies.. so yea.. it's sad, but at least when they put them to sleep, they don't feel it. |
Date: 10/3/2002 11:49:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53909 Yea I know. Most people do want the younger animails. |
Date: 10/3/2002 11:53:00 PM From Authorid: 53052 my gosh here if you want to buy a kitten they will cost you aorund $100 bux yes you read that right! even that much at hte pet store!! that price includes shots and being fixed when it's old enough normally(they hate sending out a cat orkitten that isn't fixed because it will only produce more and cause more a drain on them.. you get a better deal fixing an animal through them also!!) i do suggest checking the paper where you live.. it is cheaper.. we got out cat that way(didn't cost us anything) she was 11 months old up to date on all her shots and fixed came with toys and a name(they said we could change it if we wanted) she was still a kitten at heart we love her dearly and she adores us.. they said they musta spent an easy $450 on her in the 10-11 months they had her(heck she even came with a special made scratching post) |
Date: 10/3/2002 11:58:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53909 Midnighty>>>> I'm going to go back there Saturday to check on the prices. I hope that they're not that much. They had adult cats for 30 bucks. Getting animals in the pet store cost soooo much!! I saw this one kitten that was almost 500 dollars! I think that's so crazy. |
Date: 10/4/2002 12:05:00 AM From Authorid: 53052 punk star that one you saw was probally a pure breed with those the sky is the limits.. i know adult cats around here are about 40... i was checking them out before we got out cat.. i love our cat.. DO check out the paper sometimes they are giving away free kittens! and if it's an indoor car you just really have to get it fixed when it's old enough *L* right now our cat is sleeping on the BFnds lap using the keyboard as a head rest!! |
Date: 10/4/2002 12:09:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53909 If we don't get a kitten at the animal shelter, my co-worker says that one of her friends cats will be having kittens in December, so we may get one from them for free. Do you know how much shots cost and all that? |
Date: 10/4/2002 12:11:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53909 When we do get a cat, it will be an inside cat. I would be too worried if it got hit by a car cause we live on a busy street and I wouldn't want the cat to be taken away by anyone. |
Date: 10/4/2002 12:11:00 AM From Authorid: 53052 it depends on where you go sometimes the pet shops will give them for you sometimes you have to get a vet to do it.. and the vet costs alot... just like a doc |
Date: 10/4/2002 12:23:00 AM From Authorid: 7830 I know how you feel. Where I grew up the animal shelter is a no-kill shelter, they'll keep the animals as long as possible to find them homes. They even take them out on the weekends to mall and grocery store parking lots and set them up in pens and try to find them homes there. It's a great setup. |
Date: 10/4/2002 12:35:00 AM From Authorid: 53052 then the only real worries you have are it going into heat..a male will spray so to say and a female will... yah...rub up against things with it's butt in the air and meow(almost a howl meow) for a few weeks at a time... but you have about 11+ months before the animal will go into heat |
Date: 10/4/2002 3:02:00 AM From Authorid: 50791 Cats are the best pets as long as you get a male because females are too stuck up and rude and selfish! Male cats actually show affection unlike female cats who will try to avoid you as much as possible (thats how my female cat is anyway) LOL! Also as long as you aren't allergic to them! Anyway, I think its better for them to die because its easier and nicer than them starving or getting hurt and not having an owner to take care of them. All those animals you saw would probably be happier being put to sleep rather than being in that dirty place with all those other animals. I dont see anyting wrong with it at all. But I couldn't be the one to do it! |
Date: 10/4/2002 12:34:00 PM From Authorid: 46800 Depending on where you live and if the cat or dog is fixed or not. My cat was unfixed I paid $20xx for him, had him fixed on my own I forgot how much. My dog I recently paid for was 65xx in another state but she is 12 yrs old and fixed. The vet bill was free. I always adopted my animals. It's so sad. |
