"NO SHAME IN BEING ME"
(Dedicated to astral p -- ID# 28944)

So what if I've got spikes sticking out of my back,
So what if I smoke a pack a day,
And so what if I drink more then Uncle Lou.

So what if I sleep with every guy that I come across,
So what if I have a piece of toilet paper stuck to my shoe,
And so what if I haven't got a clue.

No shame in being me.

So what if I dropped out of school at the age of 17,
So what if I make my sins obvious and BOLD,
And so what if you don't like me like this.

So what if I've got more confidence then you x3,
So what if I snore when you sleep,
And so what if I keep you up all night.

No shame in being me.

So what if I pee on little kids crossing the street,
So what if I dyed my hair green,
And so what if I get picked on and get called, "booger brains."

So what if my own puppy doesn't like me,
So what if I will never amount to anything,
And so what if I may just like it that way.

No shame in being me.

***********

Feel the confidence rushing back! wahoooo!!

***********

You'll never be happy in life, if you live as someone else. Yeah, so maybe I don't pee on little kids, and I don't have green hair, but you get the point :-D Point I'm trying to make here: I dropped outta school, I smoke, I do most of the things in this poem. I'm a bad influence to youngsters, but there is no shame in being me coz that's just who i am. I don't hide it. Thanks for reading :)

Date: 9/25/2002 10:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    Great Bethann! You are who and what you are! And I think you are a great person. You write like I only wish I could. And even though there is time between our age, you are a special friend, you always notice when I'm not here for awhile! Even though I'm older now, I still live live in those days and times gone by, everything comes harder sometimes, but we make it come just by never giving up or giving in or letting go. I love your Attitude!
Date: 9/25/2002 10:41:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42568    Thank you Brenda! Of course I'd notice. I always notice when a friend that I care about a lot is missing. I'm a strong believe that wisdom does NOT come with age. I may be young, but I've been through hell. It was time for me to take charge of things in my life, so I took

Date: 9/25/2002 10:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    Life is the greatest teacher, we sink or swim Bethann, not everyone thinks that way, but I do. It can be so hard being young and feeling all alone, sometimes the only thing that we have is sheer will, friends and a strong backbone. You have that! Plus lots more. A hard knock life isn't something I would wish on anyone but IT HAPPENS sometimes and we have to overcome it. I would never have made it without friends and later I had my girls depending on me. I will always appreciate the love of my friends. Nothing in life means more than knowing someone cares and someone needs you. Being a friend or having a friend is priceless, it comes from the heart and nothing has greater value or meaning. When I get a chance to log on and find a message from a friend, that always makes my day!
Date: 9/26/2002 12:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 44850    LOL . . . and here, i was getting to comment on you peeing on kids . . . LOL, however, fantastic point here, and good as usual . .
Date: 9/26/2002 1:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 28944    You dedicated this poem to me, Bethany! I am flattered. This is a wild, defiant, and provocative poem. You've really nailed the importance of being authentic in life.... I agree wholeheartedly with Carl Jung who said, 'I'd rather be whole, than good.' As people, and as writers in particular, i think we must be prepared to sin boldy and take risks... in fact, we must be prepared to fail in our lives as much as we succeed in order to understand fully the dimensions of our Life. Success can only be seen through relativity.

Truly, the only person you have to answer to in this life is yourself.... but i don't think this means that there aren't some very important questions to still be asked, or that other people aren't important... actually in some very important ways, it is only by questioning our experience, (and this inevitably involves other people) that we can learn more about our own selves, and how interdependent everything is. And where best to set our creativity to work. This is exactly what you are doing here! Great post.... your friend, astral p

Date: 9/26/2002 10:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 21435    "No worries...maybe just a few regrets." We are what we are, what we want to be and (at times) what we have to be, Bethann. Hmmmmmm..Which one of me wrote this???...lol.. Dynamic poetry, Bethann. Always a pleasure. Write on.....
Date: 9/26/2002 4:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 54444    Actually you should really try peeing on little kids...nothing like it to build your confidence LOL Gramps

Date: 9/28/2002 10:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 3395    Oh, that's very true! There should be no shame in being oneself!...Sometimes I need to remember this. Great Poem, as always. Peace,
