This is my first attempt at posting a story....so...I hope y'all like it :)
"AHHH!" Luna screamed, as a spirit interupted her daily counting of the candy shop's earnings. She choked on her water. "I REALLY wish you would bother me somewhere OTHER than work! I can't help you cross over here," she shouted defensively. Luna had just begun getting into Necromancy; her gift. She was getting better at Tarot readings too. "Luna, you have a WONDERFUL gift!" her mother often told her. "Sure, having spirits bother me whenever it's convienient for THEM is SOOO wonderful," Luna replied, noting her sarcasm as clearly as possible. Her father's responce was usually something such as: "Selena! It is really too much for a 15 year old girl to deal with." "I have the gift of second sight, and so shall you," Mother said placidly to her daughter.
Luna continued her painting, ignoring all but her cat, Brighid. She splashed tones of gold and purple onto the canvas. Occasionally, her hands wandered up to the charm on its silver chain. Her fingers rubbing the surface of the smooth metal, having memorized every detail of the small Celtic frog charm she held so delicately between her thumb and index finger. She let her hand drift back to her paintbrush, and made more purple splotches, all with a flick of the wrist.
"Luna, child, you'd best take a shower before bed," her mother called from the foot of the staircase. She sighed heavily and headed for her bathroom. A quick glance in the mirror proved how unusual she looked from eveyone else she knew. She studied her features curiously. Luna had inherited her mother's fair skin and raven colored hair. Her lavender, almost violet eyes were the thing that sparked her interest most. She had an afinity for all things lavender. Her eyes erked her. "How had THAT happened?" she'd often ask herself. Luna didn't know anyone ELSE with lavender eyes. A shiver went down her spine. Even though she had that odd feeling in the pit of her stomach, she chose to ignore it, and jump in the shower anyway.
The hairs pricked up on the back of her neck. The feeling suddenly overwhelmed her. She wrapped the towel around herself, and stepped out from behind the shower curtain. There was no one there that she could see, so she quickly dressed and walked to her room to finish her painting.
She picked up her paintbrush carefully, and swiped it expertly across the canvas in a straight, diagonal line. The purple paint had a slight shimmer to it. The shining paint caught a shadow behind Luna........
