NEWSFLASH: We don't ride HORSES to school!

Well this might blow some of your minds lol but here in Texas we DON'T ride horses to school, we don't still have outhouses (yeah we actually have indoor plumbing lol!) and it's not like a scene from an old cowboy western movie! Just thought I would clear that up. Because lately when i've been chatting with people from chat rooms and i say i'm from Texas they ask questions like that!! And there are alot of foreign exchange students at my school and some of them that i've talked to had that impression about Texas also! It's funny but I guess that's just what some people think of when they think of Texas (just like i use to think Alaska was just a bunch of eskimos and igloos...some of it is, but the majority isn't) I guess it's the same with Texas some of it is ranches and cowboy's but alot of it is quite the opposite!

Date: 9/24/2002 9:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 28190    LMAO!! Nope, I never thought of Texas that way, I guess because Im in Alabama and it isnt that much different. People think we are a bunch of rednecks, live in shacks, live in the country, wear coveralls, no shoes, no teeth, dont take a bath, and Use out houses...I could go on forever about the things I have been asked. lol.. Granted there are probably people in Alabama that are like that, but I dont know any and I think I have only met one person that had a few missing teeth.. lol *hugs* Dont worry about it, its all preconcieved ideas.. Love, Amanda
Date: 9/24/2002 10:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    I was about to say exactly what Amanda said except I'm in Tennessee. I hear stuff like that all the time and it is annoying!
Date: 9/24/2002 10:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 42519    Utah: 1: am I mormon, 2: How many mothers do I have, 3: does my dad practice polygamy, 4: does anybody besides mormons live here? Those are the main questions.. I get the polygamy ones a lot.
Date: 9/25/2002 12:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 28899    When I hear someone say 'Texas', I usually think of our province, Alberta, where farmers are businessmen, and anyone can get rich. But, I've never been to either place, so what do I know, lol!
