Depends. Sometimes we are just afraid of a strong presence. Some parents try to be tough to demand respect from their children. |

Heck no. Not unless you did something REALLY wrong...like staying out past curfew, but over cleaning your room? He needs to relax or something... |

No...I don't think anyone should FEAR a parent...I don't think it's normal at all...and it's not your fault but appears to be his problem.. |

I don't think its normal to FEAR your dad, but being nervous if you actually did something wrong is normal (nobody likes getting in trouble lol) but, being afraid hes gonna hit you isn't normal either. |

To elaborate more....Its normal to feel scared of like them punishing you (as in NOT physical abuse)or being dissapoined in you, or scared what they will say that might hurt your feelings (NOT cussing, but words like "that really hurts me what you did, i thought i taught you better, im dissapointed in you) like that kinda stuff..but just fear him in general, thats NOT normal, well in my opinion anywase. |

No, that's not normal. I think the way they acted toward you was awful. You shouldn't have been called a liar and you should never have been threatened. Even though he had no intention of hitting you, you didn't know that at the time. I'm sorry, Jackie. |
