How American is it, in a country founded on having your own opinions and beliefs, in a country so many have died to make it able to have your own opinions and beliefs, how American is it to say if you don't agree move out of America?

Date: 9/22/2002 10:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 22852    Huh??? Your wording is confusing.
Date: 9/22/2002 10:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 3508    Well basically, im not an American, and never will be
Date: 9/22/2002 10:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 46530    That is actually very american. America was founded on freedom of beliefs, values and speech, so if someone wants to say to someone else they should move out then they are just airing their belief through speech that they don't like the values of the other
Date: 9/22/2002 10:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 51635    It's very American to say that if you don't agree with EVERYONE having freedom of thought and speach you can move out. Thats one of those freedoms, the right to leave. And yes, if you like enough to live here then you should be proud of this country and defend it against all who would invade or attack or work to destroy the freedoms we enjoy here. If you don't like something about it here you can try to work to change it or you can leave. Just like the TV or radeo, if you don't like it change the channel or turn it off.
Date: 9/22/2002 10:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 60299    How American is it to despise your own country, which fought so hard to give you the right to ask "how American is it?". Don't question what our country can do for you, but rather do for your country. If you try, you can shape a good tomorrow for our home...if you whine and stomp your feet and cry, then move somewhere where you'll be much less apt to making everyone elses lives a hell.
Date: 9/22/2002 10:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 23610    Well, certainly this country was founded on the belief and the natural right of individuals to disagree and to voice their own thoughts, within certain limits so as not to cause deliberate harm to others. And of course those limits have always been tested and tried by our court systems. However, there will always be those who, in their frustration and lack of ability to express their own thoughts, or need to control others, will only be able to come up with "If you don't like it move out". If that were the case....no one would live here because everyone, at one time or another, has not agreed with something, unless they are just a sheep. Just take a look at the history of the U.S. during the McCarthy era. If people did not use their right to disagree with government control at that time....we would all still be living under that control and those restrictions.
Date: 9/22/2002 11:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 53961    None of us are originals unless we are Native American. We need to remember that we are stewards of this country and it is our responsibility to take care of it. Divorcing one's country because it doesn't meet up to one's expectations won't solve anything. The important thing to do is to get involved and do something but do it in an appropriate, legal way.
Date: 9/22/2002 11:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 33925    Im totally unAmerican!!! Yep thats right!!.....I AM CANADIAN!! :P:P
Date: 9/22/2002 12:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 22102    im an arab >=D
Date: 9/22/2002 12:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 55970    Well said Auntie Lady Nyx! I don't know about all of you, but I've always wanted to be French :\ Heheee! I don't know why, but I always have. *Jewel Fernandez*
Date: 9/22/2002 12:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 16538    I am "American" to the core 110% . I'll die for mu country any day .
Date: 9/22/2002 12:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    i'm not any part american!! i'm fully canadian!!
Date: 9/22/2002 12:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 50435    This is how American I am ----->
Date: 9/22/2002 12:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 50435    Lady Luck, do you know Joe, from Canada? He works in an office. *wink*...
Date: 9/22/2002 12:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 50435    Even the Natives aren't native to North America. This is a misconception. For some reason it's okay for them to have crossed the Bering and to have settled in the Americas. Then when someone else comes over they wish to be acknowledged as 'native'. So, it is clear to me that there is a minimum amount of time that a culture must spend in a new land before they can be considered to be native to that land. I would like to know the exact length of time that has been set down for this case...
Date: 9/22/2002 1:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 54878    you can say it all day, but the boys in washington ain't a-gonna pay you no heed! they just a-gonna run a few more semi-tractor loads of aliens, drugs, and cheap products right down your throat -- as they howl with laughter, while smoking big fat cigars, and patten each other on the backs -- dang, maybe we neeed campaign finance reform --- another funnin' 12
Date: 9/22/2002 1:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    Joe?? LOL..no doubt aboot it Gallytuck!!
Date: 9/22/2002 2:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 23714    How american am I? drive a chevy truck>>BRONCO BANNER ON ONE SIDE, THE AMERICAN FLAG ON THE OTHER!!!FROM WYOMING~~hOW MUCH MORE OF AN AMERICAN IS THAT? LOL>>>OOOXXX>>ANGIE
Date: 9/22/2002 11:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 41374    I like to add that there are large gruops that don't seem too american or even like to be considered americans but does that mean they should leave? NO! This is a free country, for everyone so if they enter this country legally, then they deserve to be here just as much as anyone else. Now if they break any laws that is instituted within that ordinance, then they will be punish by the law with selected americans as the jury to decide their fate. I know as well as anyone that their are many who enter this country illegally, like terrorist, etc... well then they shouldn't be here. That is pretty much common sense to everyone. That could accounts for alot of people tho, still they MUST be GO by extradition or whatever. But if legal americans say they feel unAmerican, which might total into the millions, should they leave?...that is up to them and not the opinionated few, or many.
Date: 9/23/2002 7:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    I believe It's completely American to say to someone acting Un-American: "Take that stuff out of my face or I'll pound you". Now THAT is the American way.
Date: 9/23/2002 7:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 20104    What do you mean?? Dont agree with what? Im confused.
Date: 9/23/2002 11:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 3321     I think you make an excellent point.
Date: 9/24/2002 4:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    i dont agree with that phrase because our constitutional rights allow us to appose the government in the constitution somewhere it says that if we feel the government is not working for the people er somethin we can dissolve it and establish a new one
Date: 9/24/2002 4:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    and also im a 4th native american tell me to leave if you want a 4th of me belongs hear lol
Date: 9/24/2002 4:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    gally tuck it is said that no one inhabited the US until what is now the native americans got here but then again if thats your theory then no one and i mean no one is native to there land unless there from africa because thats where all of our ancestors came from
Date: 9/24/2002 5:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 47983    Who died for us?
Date: 10/2/2002 9:57:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 57718    Sorry I disappeared, there was a family emergency. In response to so many of you, I am not un-American at all. I voice my right to oppose government when needed and support it when it's right. But I would never tell anyone American that they are un-American because they exercise those same rights. I think it's wrong to say "If you don't like it, get out". This country was founded on the principle that if you don't like it, then say it, we may be able to fix it. America will stagnate if there are no new ideas, whether they oppose what one considers the "standard" American beliefs or not. To believe that there is only ONE way to be American is arrogant and to believe that others have to follow that way is un-American. You don't have to be christian to be American, you don't have to drive a chevy, you have to be free. That's all, that's what America means. That's what our ancestors fought for.
