The Ocean and the Sky *Crysa Rae*

The ocean and the sky,
Reaching for the horizon,
They come together, by and by.

Both deep and vast,
Parallel, above and below,
Until they come together at last.

The ocean, looking above,
Thinks she sees herself in the sky,
Imagines she's in love.

The sky, while looking down below,
Sees his reflection in the ocean,
Among all her joy and sorrow.

"At times, it seems so far,
This distance between us."
Thinks the ocean, gazing at the stars.

What she wouldn't do, to be by his side,
She's already allowed him to explore,
The many caverns hidden inside.

Impatience swells within,
Her waves begin to crest,
As she vainly reaches for this friend.

Yet, the sky, be asleep he must,
For he would never, knowingly,
Break the ocean's trust.

Reprimanded by the stillness,
The ocean retreats,
Intending, once more, to give less.

Slowly a drizzle, scampers down,
Penetrating, the oceans shell,
Drops of comfort, we'll call them now.

Increased, in size of heart,
By the incessant rain,
Of herself, she willingly departs.

The absorber, the messenger, the sun,
Takes her gifts to the sky,
Alas! He will take none.

She blames it on the moon,
As she retreats again,
But he knows, she'll return soon.
