Exactly one sad year ago
On 9/11, 2001
Planes were slammed into our symbols
The terrorists thought they had won


A vast amount of lives were taken
From the Pentagon and the WTC
And let's always remember the lives that were lost
On Flight 93


President Bush visits the country
Meeting people all over
A little girl cries out for her daddy
But he's not there to hold her


A mother tries to answer questions
As to why her baby's not here
A son bows his head in a moment of silence
For his father, whom he held so dear


The fire chief's body is pulled from the ruins
Battered and covered with ashes
Like so many other innocent victims
Of those horrific crashes


Yet still, new life has been given
Babies were born on that day
As though they somehow preconceived
What was to come our way


These new lives will shape the future
And still, they will always remember
What happened on that fateful Tuesday
The eleventh day of September
