I think it's irresponsible of the students to do this. They haven't actually learnt anything if they are doing this. They idea of teaching this sort of thing is to teach kids about the mistakes in our past and to learn to do better in the future. |

Also I'd like to add that not wanting to know about it isn't telling all of the story of the world. How do you feel those that have suffered at the hands of these groups would feel if the story of their ancestors struggle wasn't told. As if White people were all halos and good deeds. It is irresponsible to miss this out. |

Kurt, yes i know....but they don't learn a thing. what i especially don't like is that this one guy his name is nick, and he's black, that's cool and all he's an awesome dude, but his 'friends' do this stuff too, which makes me mad, they wont do it to his face. |

I think maybe your teachers should come up with a new method of teaching this sort of subject. You should come up with a way and approach the faculty with your idea and your concerns. You'll be surprised at how interested they will be. |

But Jackie do you think that the Jewish community would be happy if their families struggles were ignored in history like they were'nt significant. How about the negro and irish catholic areas of the world. Students need to be taught how to understand these things not just the facts. Teaching is 2 parts factual and 1 part theortical. |

GothGirl, i understand that, i've learned about it, i just don't like to hear about it. i listen and pay attention. i treat others the way i want to be treated. yah that sounds fake, but it's true. i don't act like im better than them, i act like a 'normal' person. Jackie, see i think we should learn about it, but not go too in depth with it. Kurt, that's a good idea, thanks |

Past history? Maybe you should do some research and get extra credit for showing your class that the KKK is alive and well. They have many active sites around the US. They still hold rallies at schools here in PA. Find out about what they did and what they are still doing. If you can intelligently present to your peers the horrific beliefs of these people, maybe they will not be so quick to jump on the band wagon. I'll be back with some links for you. |

Life is not all about happy endings. The school system is doing kids a disservice by NOT telling them the whole story. Knowing the good, the bad, and the ugly makes for a more well-rounded individual... |

No one (with a good heart) would want to hear about it. It is an important part of history. Bad things happen, and we should know about these things. It doesn't make people more prejudiced... it makes ignorant people act even more foolishly than normal. Those students that you say do stupid things are just being STUPID. Pay no attention to them, they don't know any better. |

Children should be taught about extremists groups and cults; ways to tell who they are and how to combat their recruiting methods. MOST of the time, these extremists groups target the young, innocent and naive, for they are much easier to brainwash. They look for kids who are needy; kids who have low self esteem, or kids who already have a propensity for rebellion and social disfunction. These hate mongering, conspiracy mongering radicals thrive here and around the globe, and if people do not know WHO or WHAT they are or stand for, or if they don't care...then they shouldn't be surprised if and when THEY are in their crosshairs; targeted for annilation. Get Educated. |
