Ok I have something to say about all this., I'm 15 and I'll be 16 in like 6 months. I know it's worth the wait. I can't wait to be able to go in there. But I loved the way the old chat room was, that's what called me here to usm often times. That's where I got some of my best advice, met the greatest friends...had the best times... but I guess that won't be happening anymore because most of my friends were way older than 16... and now that's like put a bar between us. I won't be able to come into the chatroom and see people that mean the most to me anymore. It really hurts..it really does. To me the grown ups was a good things in the chat room because they influenced all the younger people. A lot of usmers that are older than 30 and 40 here have had some of the best conversations with me... and made me feel better about myself. Kronk has even told me a number of times that I am wise beyond my years... that's all I really have to say...at the moment anyways... ROCK ON!!!-ERHIT |

I think this kind of degrades younger USmers in the way of saying that they have no interest on the mentioned views. When I was 12-16 I actually found these topics interesting, and I think to not let anyone under 16 in would be judging people without full knowledge of their abilities and interests. I think it should be for everyone who wants to discuss these topics, and maybe Chat2 should have its own special guidelines. It's a put-down to some younger USMers to simply assume that thwey are not interested in something. Ok now I have something to say about this chat2. ALthough I am 17 I have some "opinions" I posted something that was about negative opinions against chat2 and it had a lot of the negaitve responses that you see in these comments. Wel it got deleted becaus it was considered a usm complaint. Well it was not a complaint. It was my opinion about the chat room and by you deleting it was an act against my free speech. You should be ashamed..... |

I feel this is a bit of age discrimination as well, with the instant assuming that people under 16 will not know or will not care about the issues. I also feel that this will seperate USM even further, as Dolphin Witch mentioned, into sections of Under 16 and over 16. Why not have a "Talking Chat" for meeting friends andtalking with them, or gabbing about social matters, and a "Serious Topics" covering "life, love, bills, worries, politics" and make both available to ALL USMers.l That seems more fair to me. That way the talkers won't be bothered and the *Quote*"^Boring Junk" *end quote* That seems much less age-discriminating and makes, to me at least, much more sense. And besides, there are so wonderful younger thinkers on here and some adults that act like Two year olds. I think its very nicwe to have a chat covering these topics but I think its unfair to rule out certain people, not because of something they did, but because of their age. Faith aka |
