A poem for Heather by Man Of Asgard

ARKANSAS HEATHER

Down in Arkansas where the snappers crawl
There's a gal named Heather with a Midwest drawl.
She's got a motorcycle that she loves to ride
She's my only kissin' cousin on the Internet side.

She tells great stories that will twist your wits
About unknown creatures and alien ships,
About places of wonder from long ago
When mankind was deciding which way to grow.

She tells of misplaced planets and mysterious stones
She makes us wonder whether we're alone.
Reading her stories is how I met,
This hillbilly writer of the Internet.

Now it's kind of classic the story I'm telling.
Heather bought her bike and went to e-mailing.
She bragged it up to all her pals
Said she could ride it without any spills.

Now we all warned her again and again
To take it slow cause it ain't no Schwinn.
But Arkansas Heather told us all to hush;
She was ready to ride with no more fuss.

Well this story doesn't have a surprising end.
Two hours later Heather's message came.
Hey guys I'll be laid up for a spell.
My ride on the Harley didn't go too well.

I'll probably sell it; I could almost cuss;
This gosh darn bike is just dangerous.
So although I'm sad Heather had her spill
I got a belly laugh with her last e-mail.

But guess what my friend there is lots more to tell. To know her in real life is such a pleasure. She has heart and beauty, and intelligence beyond measure. She gives and asks nothing in return. She touches hearts that in her absence will burn. Thanks for sharing in all that I read. Thanks for being one of many a friend in deed.
