uniforms are a great equalizer! the UK still wears uniforms in most schools. i went through a public school with no uniforms and i wouldn't mind if they did have them!! i find people don't push the limits with clothing. there are some VERY UNACCEPTABLE things what people wear to school now a days and my fave saying about it is "if you can't wear it in a workplace don't wear it to school" |

yep I would. Kids get killed or hurt or maimed just for thier jackets or shoes!! They even get thier hats stolen. So tell me why not. I agree being different is ok but not when you get hurt trying to be different. Also think of those underpriveledged kids that cant afford those "in" clothes. They are the ones you pick on and call scrub's or worse. Keep everyone on the same level. You can dress differently after school. |

Well I have had to wear Uniforms before and I didn't like them. The ones here are cheap and crappy. I would liek ti if they had plaid(SP?) for the bottoms rather then plain blue. I am glad though that I get to wear my own clothes. I think they are more comfortable than a uniform. |

I have had to wear uniforms my whole life but the difference at our school was we all wore them different ways... like our uniform was a white shirt and grey pants so we all wore different ones... It is possible to still be an individual and wear a uniform So i totally agree .. it is a good idea for security purposes too that way they know if anyone is on school gorunds that shouldn't be |

I don't like uniforms. I like the way I dress and uniforms IMO take away your indivduality. My school lets you wear pretty much whatever you want as long as "nothing is hanging out" and I like that, I can wear the clothes I like and all my piercings. People say that uniforms are a good idea because then no one will bug you if you cant afford name brand clothing etc but I've gone through the horrors of public schools, and they will ALWAYS find something else to tease you about. My best friend used to go to a school where you had to wear uniforms, she told me that it was horrible, the uniforms were very uncomfortable, and there were just as manny fights and kids being picked on. No matter what you do they ALWAYS find something else. |

I had to wear a BROWN school uniform *gags* ~ brown plaid knee length skirt, tan shirt, brown jumper and brown blazer. It was gross!! But as it was a private school i had no choice. Even though i hated it with a passion i think that uniforms in general are not a bad idea because you dont have to worry about what you are going to wear, everyone looks the same and you save a bomb in buying new clothes all the time. BUT if i were to choose a school uniform, i'd make sure it was something a bit more tolerable than a big, brown sack!! |

Well being any aussie as well we had to wear uniforms but like Rogue dwarf (she's my little sister therefore we went to the same school) we wore them in our own ways. I used to wear a kurt Cobain shirt underneath my white seniors shirt. While uniforms cause students to conform they are good for insurance reasons i.e if you get injured on your way home from school while wearing your uniform the school is liable. Also it means that you have to behave yourself extra good because you are identified as going to a particular school. |

In America, it would stop some of the peer pressure I think. And now a days kids need some breaks from that. |

i think it may dampen who're use to showing of fassion, but i think it reaaaally doesn't matter about clothes, uniforms are quite decent though, it feels alienating looking at tables of people eating with foods with loners separated from popular people. you know? |

I had to wear a uniform because I went to a private school. It was pretty ugly. Brown plaid skirt with a white shirt. It didn't really bother me that much.I never had to worry about what to wear. |

As long as there isn't a "brownshirt" in the package, it's probably a good idea. Kids wouldn't want to beat each other up over Nikes, but still kids need their individuality ...darn it -see- I'm undecided. Hopefully, I'll have time to check in to see how the debate is going. |

I think uniforms would be a good idea. I didnt wear one at school, but I used to wonder how much easier it would be to always wear the same thing. It would be a lot better. |

I think they are a good idea, it stops people from getting picked on if they dont have all the "in" clothes! |
