Oh, my goodness. I cant beleve this. okay, for 7th grade, here is what i have to carry in the morning: reading book, big binder, science binder, reading binder, math book and math notebook. Okay, some of u may think HA! that's nothing! but let me tell you, ooh, my back was killing me today. We have to carry way too many things! I can only go to my locker when i get to school, lunch, while we leave school so like all day my back was killing me!

So, do/did you have to carry alot of books for school, or am i just 'lucky'? And also, do you think its right to make us hurt our backs with books when we could keep them in the classroom or be able to go to our locker in between this time period?

*HUGS* love,

~*JACKIE*~

Date: 9/9/2002 8:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 56369    lol non taken, I dont have a say either way. Everysingle school that I know of in australia has a uniform (Notice the, "that I know of", Theyre prolly stacks that dont) I think its alright, You never have to worry about what to wear to school, and it really is such a novolty on the weekends to be yourself in your own clothes and see other like that too LOL
Date: 9/9/2002 8:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 32193    ok umm last year (7th grade) i had to carry my math book, binder, science notebook, uhh and my social science book once in awhile when i had homework..and we dont have lockers!! cuz our schooles WAAAY overcrowded..so only the ppl with back problems get lockers...but this year..all i have to carry is my algebra book and my binder...and all my other junk i keep in there by choice lol..but we still dont have lockers...and the only reason i only have 1 book..is cuz my science and social science have a class set that stays in the class...then we have our books at home that we use for homework!! and p.e u dont have anything..and my elective is office..so u dont get homework or anything in there!!!
Date: 9/9/2002 8:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 55970    Lets see......for 1st period Science, I need my binder, and a science notebook, but that stays in the classroom. 2nd period Art, I don't really need anything except my art supplies, which I usually leave with the teacher. I bring my binder with me anyway. 3rd period Language arts, I need my binder, and anything else my teacher wants me to bring, 4th period PE I don't need anything, except extra clothes to change into. 5th period Literature, I need my binder and also whatever the teacher wants me to bring (it's the same teacher as 3rd period). 6th period Social studies, I need my binder and my Geography book, which is HUGE. and since my Algebra class is the last period of the day, I bring it to Social studies with me, also a HUGE book. And THEN, I have to carry EVERYTHING back down to my locker, and jam everything in my backpack, in time to get a good seat on the bus. *sigh* By that time, I'm exhausted, and everything hurts. LOL! *Jewel Fernandez*
Date: 9/9/2002 8:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    a new study says your not supose to carry more then 12% of your body weight on your back(for example if you were 100 pounds the most your backpack should be is 12 pounds) but that is never the case.. i always found ways to make it lighter useing a folding clip board for notes and paper(i only carried around maybe 15 sheets of blank paper at any time) only take the books i NEED home. BUT the new option now is a rolling backpack! i know they are a little tacky but what is worse.. people making comments about your backpack or your back being in alot of pain what could cause problems down the road
Date: 9/9/2002 8:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 20956    Man, in my final year of highschool (year 12) we had so many books that we started carrying out school bags with us between classes!! Then the teachers banned that (i went to a private catholic all girls school and they just LOVED to ban things for no reason at all!!) and made a rule that we had to go to our lockers every second lesson. Too bad if you had classes on the oppposite side of the school!!
Date: 9/9/2002 10:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    Could be worse. It could be university. I carry three text books, 2 set reading texts, 4 notebooks, a diary, my pencil case as well as 3 books of readings.
Date: 9/9/2002 11:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 5940    Take it from an ol' fogie such as myself. When I was a young'n, I had to rise early each day to care for the farm, milk the cows, feed the chickens, and cook my own breakfast and make my own lunch. Since there was no bus to pick me up, I had to walk 3 miles uphill each way and back, no matter what the weather conditions were like. Could'nt leave campus for lunch, did'nt have a car, and it's a good thing I packed my own lunch I tell ya! Before I could finish my homework, I had the evening chores to take care of.....stop me if you've heard this already...... LOL!
Date: 9/10/2002 7:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    I was able to stop at my locker between every class so I wasn't weighted down with books during the day... and if I felt ambitious, I MIGHT consider doing homework... but most of the time my books stayed at school
Date: 9/10/2002 7:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    LOL at Larry... I think I've heard that one before.... Dad? Is that you??? Why are you barefoot? Was it Jack's turn to wear the one pair of shoes you had to share? LMAO
Date: 9/13/2002 3:42:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 61811    thanks for your input!
