Greg slammed the folder shut and leaned back in his chair. He couldn't concentrate. His life was complicated enough and getting crazier by the minute. Here he was, one of the most prestigeous lawyers in Houston, and his life was falling apart.
It all began when he was a sophomore in college. He was having the time of his life. He was the big man on campus and well known at every party. At one of these famous frat parties is where he met Samantha Wilder. She was a beautiful girl who got everything she wanted and she wanted Greg. They began dating almost immediately. Two months later, the inevitable happened and Samantha was pregnant. Greg did the noble thing and they were married one Friday afternoon. Six years and three kids later, both of them were miserable, yet she wouldn't let him go. She threatened to take the children and he would never see them again every time he mentioned divorce. He loved Janna, Nikki, and Tyler with all his heart so he stayed and buried himself in his work. The future looked bleak until Summer Winslow waltzed into his office. By then, he was thirty-seven years old and he had lost hope in ever finding happiness in his life. Summer was nineteen and as lovely as her name. For days he couldn't get her off his mind. At night she haunted his dreams. Finally, three months later, he asked her out. He thought that if they could just go out one time, she would be out of his system, but he was way off.
Gradually, Greg and Summer fell in love. He could not help himself. The only think wsa that he vowed not to let each woman find out about the other, no matter what. He really didn't care if Samantha found out, but she would retaliate and he didn't want his children hurt in the process.
For two years he continued on with the affair. Leading a double life began to take its toll on Greg. His hair was turning grey and he couldn't sleep most of the time. Samantha began to suspect he was having an affair, yet she still wouldn't grant him the divorce he wanted. He had finally given up on asking for it. Tyler was fourteen by then and Nikki was sixteen. Janna had graduated and moved out the year before. He thought about leaving then but she still held the other two children over his head. He knew he had to wait at least four more years, but Summer was putting more pressure on him about a stronger commitment. He wanted desperately to marry her, but he couldn't lose Tyler and Nikki. He hated making decisions!!
The next morning Samantha Wilder Stone received a knock on the door. Her husband had had a fatal heart attack on the way home from work. So much for having to make a decision.
