I think america functions like a normal country, it has its pros and cons, but it has alot more power resting on its shoulders then the average country, and along with that fact comes responsibility.. even if that means interfearing overseas.. No counrty is perfect (Apart from Australia :P ) But yeh and no.. lol i dont really know myself :P -honeysoul |

Hi Kaja, There is a big differance between people hating America and people hating what Your leaders do with thier foreign policy. I stongly disagree with Your foreign policy and I do not like the men who run Your country. I do love America and her peoples and her freedoms, which are rapidly disappearing by the way. The problem is not the people, its the leaders. The major media doesnt help things either as they often sway the opinions of the public. You have to remember that at one time Iran was Americas friend and at another time Iraq was Americas friend. Now they are our enemy. Its like that 1984 Novel except its being played out in real life now. Anyway, a Mother holding her child in Iraq wants only the best in life for her family just the same as a mother in Ameriaca does. A hardworking man in China wants the same things as a hardworking man in the States. People are the same everywhere its just the Political and religous leaders who cant seem to get along and sometimes they take it to the limit and declare wars and we the ordinairy folks are the ones who suffer for it. I think the world would get along quite well without politicians, bankers and secret societies. Most of the worlds grief can be traced back to those three groups. Anyway it is what America's leaders do abroad that upsets the world, not the country or the citizens. Bye for now. Enki |

lol@honeysoul.. OZ Rocks! I agree with Enki in that we are all the same deep down.. But I do know a lot of people dislike Americans becasue they believed to be self absorbed and arrogant (that is a pretty big thing in Oz- everybody believes yanks are up themselves) The opinion is also held by a lot of people over here that the US deserved 9/11 and that we should not help them war on the the middle east. it is simply that the US is a superpower ( and the europeans are NOT all socialists Og!) and that people think they could do more to help others tan just offer money to governments. |

the American Government is the object of hatred, for the intelligent. The uninformed, or ignorant simply hate us. I think it is a combination of Envy, Jealousy, and our "superior" attitude. ENKI shows an interesting view of America. But, he can seperate the Government, from the people. I think there are a lot of people & countries, who would LOVE to see us take a fall. (and, maybe, divide up the spoils). |

it all has to do with the materialism in this country we arent the innocent lil country the blind sheep of the government think we also use drugs to pay for secret wars around the world drugs are the global policy for christ sake(kinda got it from a system of a down song but its true) and also a country that barely has enough food to feed a small child once sees our countris with bulimia and anorexia and basically see how we waste food that they could use |

JEALOUSY?? i dunno where the hell that came from butnthat is the wrong answer..ENKI..i agree..it is becasue of our govt foreign policy which by the way wee know nothing of becasue we do not live in third world countries to know what "america" does to them. Jealousy?? Please...step back a bit on that will ya...your country ISN'T the only good/great country in the world. I know many New Zealanders who would say that NZ is the most beautiful country in the world and wouldn't want to live anywhere else...many Australians would say the same about Australia...many Islanders and their Islands etc etc. The excuse of 'jealousy' I could just as easily be construed as stemming from your perceived 'arrogance'. Newsflash: The entire planet despises the US. Sorry to tell ya folks, but it's the truth. I've been saying it all along. This whole "America, love it or leave it" attitude is not getting the States anywhere. Sure, lots of money flowing through there. "Freedom of Speech" and all that. LOL. One thing that might have caused some animosity is the fact that America only pokes its nose in when and where its own interests are vested. The US was a late-comer to both world wars. Why? And Europeans are NOT jealous of the States. In many ways Europe is ahead of the States. France and Ireland are heavy players in the technology sector. I agree with Enki on many points. Why did the WTC get whacked and not Buckingham Palace? The British have caused a lot of trouble in many parts of the world themselves, yet they seem to come away unscathed(that's my Encarta word for the day). Foreign policy, people. Sure, the US has given money and food and blah, blah, blah. So have other countries. It's a fact that Americans have poor or no knowledge of how the rest of the world functions. You have Americans saying, "Oh, I'm Irish," yet they could not tell you the name of the capital of the Republic. Also, 'American' is NOT a language. LOL. I don't know how to solve this problem. And honestly, I don't think Americans really care. You guys are gonna see a lot more WTC type things happening, and until you open up your minds and realize that America is not the only nation in the atlas, that's the way it's gonna be. These people have some whacked reason for doing such acts and until America figures out what that reason is she's gonna be living in a state of fear for an indefinite amount of time... |

I think people have good reason to hate us because our presidents have to compete to see whose is bigger. They drag inocent people and their families into crap that they beleive is a good cause. I think that this war was exactly what Osama Bin Laden wanted and Bush gave it to him. Right now he is in bliss because he got what he wanted. I think we should jave just waited and seen what would happen. He wanted to make us angry and scared and now he knows that he did. He wanted to get a rise out of us and he did. I think that we should stay out of other countries' business. Lets worry about what is happening here first before we go and try to solve everyone elses problems. We have our own problems that need to be addressed. *Gothgirl* |

Actually it is when we take the Wilsonian approach of attempting to improve human rights for others that we get into trouble. When we CORRECTLY follow Morgenthau's approach of looking out for our own self-interests we are following the correct approach. Og |

What those who continue to condemn us for following our own self-interests ignore is that economics is not a zero-sum game. In voluntary economic exchanges both parties benefit. Otherwise the exchange would not be made. When dealing with other countries we should not try to impose democracy or human rights on them. Just liberalize trade and capitalism and improved human rights will follow. We cannot be blamed for the leadership in the Middle East and the fact that the benefits of trade with the US does not benefit the population as greatly as it should. Those who argue it is all about oil, ignore several factors. Gasoline is heavily taxed, by American standards, while ethanol, hydroelectric, wind and solar power have all been subsidized. Our support of Isreal is Wilsonian in nature, it endangers peace in the Middle East. Increasing risks to oil companies in the region. Our international policies should be based on what is best for us, realizing, however, peace is in the interest of all.Og |

Depends on which person you ask Coolade. To some natives it's Eire, to some others it may even be Banba. Once again, we have the matter of variant history books. Fluorescent lights, radio, wireless transmission of electrical energy, radar, the electron microscope, and about 700 other things were invented by a man who was raised and educated outside of the US. Hint: He shares the name of a cheesy soft-rock hair band. Banks were not invented by Americans nor does the world depend on American banking institutions. My bank is not American. Americans think that American movies are the best but the truth is that Europeans are fond of movies made in their respective countries. Likewise with Asians. So now I am realizing that the problem isn't getting American students to do the work but rather that the problems lie within what they are being taught... |

In the process of proclaiming shelter and security from the rest of the world for the opportunity to live "free", slowly more and more fall into the black hole of ignorance that systematically brainwashes the citizens to benefit none other than the pockets of the control freaks that run the government. Og is right, it is not 100% about oil. The US is arrogant and believes that our culture, or better said lack thereof, is the only way to live. Also, you have a band of want to be martyrs and guilt stricken idiots who think they owe the rest of the world a living. Arrogance runs rampant here with every part of this society. It is so prevalent that it seeps into the minds of a majority of the people here. Most people here do not know about life outside of the US, except for what we see on Discovery and the biases news reports that work together to ensure that we are scared to find out. If you are one who refuses to conform to this, you are labeled a lunatic or extremist. Furthermore, many of the ideas and inventions of things that America takes credit for were actually stolen from foreigners who didn't know any better because they are not accustomed to having to deal with the likes of the thieves who robbed them. I could write about this all night but it is useless as I still live here, by choice. |
