Osama bin Laden not the evilest man of all time? Not even the evilest name in the past decade?

I'm sure many people, us Americans more than most others, feel Osama bin Laden is the most evil man ever. Unless you lived under a rock for the past year (sorry about the cliché), you know of bin Laden's assault on American and the World Trade Center. But is he the most evil man ever? According to me, he's not; he's not even the most evil man in the past decade.

So, who is the most evil man ever, you ask me? Without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, the most evil man of all time is Adolph Hitler. Osama may have tried to attack an entire nation, but Hitler tried to end an entire race -- many entire races to be exact. Unless you're ignorant or just plain stupid, I don't need to say another word on Hitler; you already know enough.

As for the most evil man in the past decade? Once again, not bin Laden; if you ask me, it's gotta be the Timothy McVeigh, AKA the Oklahoma City Bomber. In April 1995, Timothy McVeigh bombed a federal building in Oklahoma City. This particular building had a children's day-care center on the second floor. He killed hundreds of people, including many infants and children. His excuse for the act was this: "You only live once and I KNOW you know it's better to burn out, then ... rot away in some nursing home. My philosophy is the same -- in only a short 1-2 years, my body will slowly start giving away -- first maybe knee pains, or back pains. Might as well do some good while I can be 100% effective! My whole mindset has shifted from intellectual to ... animal, (Rip the -------s heads off.)" [As written in a letter to a friend of his]

In 1997, he refused to apologize for what he did and claimed he had "no remorse" for his actions. While committing this heinous crime, McVeigh was wearing his reportedly favorite shirt: The shirt had a picture of Abraham Lincoln on the front with the saying "Sic semper tyrannis" ("Thus ever to tyrants") [The motto John Wilkes Booth yelled after he assassinated Lincoln] under it. On the back of the shirt was s bleeding tree with the Thomas Jefferson quote "The tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

I truly believe McVeigh was the most evil man in the past decade. I believe he is more evil than Osama bin Laden could even /dream/ of being.

I leave it to you to debate my belief.

Date: 8/28/2002 6:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 277    I'm not defending what Hitler did but at least he let people know what his plan was. The Jews knew they were being taken to concentration camps and would eventually be killed. Bin Laden is a terrorist. He killed many people on September 11. And let's not forget the USS COLE bomb. He was responsible for that too. Everyone seems to forget that because it did not effect any civilians. McVeigh is equal to Bin Laden because they are both terrorists.

Date: 8/28/2002 6:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 44850    i would have to say that the u.s. army is the greatest terrorist group out there ... *ducks for cover*
Date: 8/28/2002 6:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 46486    Well VG.. This may be a new peice of info of me you didn't know about.. But I always was interested about the Hitler era *I think that is the right word to use then..* I despide Hitler, but I love Anne Frank, her diary is incredible... Anyways back onto the topic.. I guess you have a point about that Hitler was and still is in my mind the most evil man.. And I do agree with you on that.. What Osama did was wrong, NO doubt about that at all.. Osama is an evil man..But not the most evil man.. And with Timothy McVeigh, I hardly remember the Oklahoma City bombing then, so I can't say that I know a lot about him, or remember the bombing.. So I guess I am going to say that Osama is the evil man oughta the past decade.. Good debate hunny.

Date: 8/28/2002 6:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 20559    I don't think that Osama is the most evil person ever probably because I am not an american. Because I am an australian I think Martin Bryant is pretty evil but that is just me
Date: 8/28/2002 6:52:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    Thanks for your input, Rogue Dwarf. I was hoping I could get a few non-American views in this debate as well.
Date: 8/28/2002 7:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 19173    Yes, Hitler and McVeigh sure were evil, but I think Osama Bin Laden is just as evil as them. Osama and his crew were also responsible for the Embassy bombings a few years back. The guy is a psycho he kills innocent unsuspecting people. And he is a coward to boot, he sends other people to do his dirty work and then he runs and hides in caves.
