I’ve rolled with the punches
I’ve survived the hands of fate

Promises too hard to keep
Meant pills in hand he had to go

The joker of hearts stole mine away
Left me battered and bruised
Vowing that I would never again
Let myself be the one that’s used

But somehow I found the strength
To show them all I can survive
That inside myself there is a will
That from day to day keeps me alive

People have thrown stones
At the glass house in which I’ve lived
People born to take from me
No one ever there to give

Now from this deck of cards I hold
I’ve drawn the King of Hearts
No promises of eternal love
Or guarantees we’ll never part

But honesty is one thing
That we can both guarantee
We live just for the moment
Because what will be, will be

The hard way I learned, this fact
But when you said those three words
I knew you wouldn’t take them back

Because I have known my Romeo

And I have locked away the Joker
Whose abuse was all I’ve known
