i want to know how to put my 1 3/4 year old cat and my new kitten that i got 2 weeks ago togather. the kitten stayed in my room. the older one knows she's there. we put one in a cage so they could see each other. they were not happy. should we just let them go together, cut the big one's nails, put them in the kitchen and give them food so they'll be interested in the food. i'm afraid the big one with kill the baby cat. she's only 7 weeks old. any advice thanks

Date: 8/17/2002 5:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 46515    I don't think that your cat will kill the kitten, but I know cats don't take to each other so easily. I have an older cat 12 yrs old and a kitten less than 1 yr. old and the older cat hates the kitten. The kitten is forever trying to play, or just seems like he enjoys harrassing the older cat. I always have to hear her growl, and hiss. I have had the kitten for 6 months now, and I don't see them getting along, now or in the future. Both your cat's are young so who knows? They might get along after awhile. I would have their food in different areas so they don't have to feel they are competing for food.

Date: 8/17/2002 6:11:00 AM  From Authorid: 44321    Well I just got a new kitten on wednesday and right now my male cat who is 2 loves her already, but my female cat who is 3 thinks she is awful LOL she growls and hisses and has decided to smack at my male cat I really don't think the baby will be attacked if the older cat is like my female she will not come near it but will growl and hiss when the kitten is near it our other cat may like the kitten eventually but in some cases the cats don't get along ever.Good luck
Date: 8/17/2002 7:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 57579    I have two female cats and the older one hates the younger one. The younger one jumps on the older one lol. But they never got along ok. But if it's a male and a female I think it'll be different. Maybe you should ask the pet psychic LOL!! But good luck anyway. ~`Skaterlover~
