No I dont think its easy for them to get it..I dont know how things work in the US, but here in Canada there are strict guidelines..You also have to be actively looking for work, and they keep close tabs on you..I think that as long as there are minor children in the home and the help is there it should be given..I do however think that those that abuse it over and over should be cut off, and the children taken out of their care.. |

Sometimes people have more kids so they get more welfare. Then they dont do anything. I think that sometimes its too easy |

no because some people really need it like my bestfriend is on medicad and she gets cash benefits with the bridge card and she is getting food stamps soon!! i think she should be able to keep it as long as possible because it helps out alot and its not like she cant get a job she is in school and she is about to have her baby |

I thought that in our state atleast that there was cutoff. I was told that the person could only be on welfare for a certain period of time. During that period of time the person is supposed to look for a job. |

Diamondm, I understand what your saying, but if she is in school, why cant she get a part time job, I mean id like to collect welfare, and be able to go through law school, but i have to work! Also it is people who work, who pay for welfare, its our tax dollars. She may really need it, but should she need it for a year, or more? |

I kinow all kinds of people, who get welfare, and apply for jobs they know they wont get, like secretary positions, when they cant read, or other jobs like that! In Texas, I know several people who have been getting foodstamps for years, !!! |

the only problem with welfare is the way that it gets percieved in the media . . . you can rest assured that most people that get foodstamps DO have jobs, and alot of single parent families that are on welfare don't have the family or support system to watch the children while they are at work, thus the child care costing the difference between recieving food stamps and working . . . . there are always, ALWAYS going to be people that 'beat the system' (or at least try to), but please, please, please, please do not look down on an entire program that HAS helped alot of people . . . as far as the job thing goes was that welfare or unemployment money they were getting from the gov.? |

yeah I think it is to easy. My neice's mom had it and lied to them about the father of her children. And now because of it my brother has to pay back all that walefare. It's too easy to get Walrfare and also cheat walefare. |

Yes, where I live it is way to easy to get food stamps ect. My dads a bus driver and one day he overheard one women talking to another women and she was like i'll never have to get a job i'll stay on welfare, and keep having kids to stay on welfare. Now there are some people that need help with money. But some people are just plain lazy, which really makes me mad, why should I have to pay for someone elses responsiblites. |

there are some people out there that take advantage but that is their business I mean if they don't want to put forth the effort to make something happen to get off of it then that is there thing and they will have to live with the fact taht what they are doing isn't right... then there are people who need it and I think they should be able to use it as long as they need it! That is what it is there for I don't see a set time or amount of money they should be able to use but it should be monitored so that the people who can do with out it don't take from the people who can't! thanks for sharing **hugs**! In my county people are only allowed on it for three years. They can use the three years how they want it. They have strict guidelines now. If you want cash benefits you have to work part time or be in school part time and only make six hundred dollars a month or less. There were alot of woman having babies just to collect more welfare. That is why they put strict guidelines on it where I live. |
