Sick of God.

Im athiest - and have been for some time.

heres the problem. Personally i dont care that Gods name is on money - or mentioned during the pledge. I don't care that everything closes early on Sundays, and I really don't care that when I get holiday cards they often say God bless before the person signs thier name. I don't care that johava witnesses bother me at home, and I don't care that my family prays before specail dinners, like thanksgiving, ect. I do care however, that when I say I don't beleive in GOD, I get the speech, YES you all know which speech I'm tlaking about. So I would like to say - Athiest are often more educated on the bible than people give them credit for. I have read the bible, and personally i think it is a Good Story - but nothing more. I have went to church, and I have been raised in a christain home, it was my choice not to beleive. Funny thing is I have never met an athiest who has anything against anyone who does beleive, or choose not to be someones friend simply because they beleive in the Lord. However Christains are iffy on wether or not to be friends with someone who doesn't beleive in God, why is this. Why is it every christain I have ever told I dont beleive in God tries to give me a speed reveiw on Christainity? I have started to think that Church is possibly a cult, to gather people, to brainwash, ect ... any other veiws on this?

Date: 8/12/2002 9:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 52746    Hmmm, that's ok, I hear what you say and understand. I don't think I believe in God either but then again maybe I do, I'm a little indecisive on that issue! But there is a question I'm just dying to ask you but I can't on here :-( I guess I shouldn't be so nosy!
Date: 8/12/2002 9:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 22852    Well.. I have to say this is the best post I have seen about this. I believe there is a higher power, whether it be God or Goddess or even Alien, everyone has a right to believe or not believe what they want. I was born and raised a Catholic, did the catholic school thing and everything but I have never read the bible because I think it is word of man and not the word of a higher power. That being said I do believe they should leave the word God on money and on our Pledge to the flag 90% of the world believe in God and to be honest true believers are peaceful people and I feel it would not hurt to leave it alone rather it may help the world we live in. As for Church being a cult I believe in a way it is as the people of the religions are believing what they are told by the man/woman in charge. I feel we should all try to get along no matter what ones belief is.
Date: 8/12/2002 9:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 51635    Hmmm.... who would ever think that an organization that wants you to spend a minimum amount of time in thier building, wants a minimum amount of your salary wants you believe everything they tell you and nothing anyone else tells you (to teh point of cutting off family members), where few have money and power and the majority has only what they can manage to save with no help from said organization is just a business that doesn't have to pay taxes or is a cult??? IMZP
Date: 8/12/2002 9:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 52746    You made a very good point there Storm Chaser. I agree with you entirely. Sam Spade
Date: 8/12/2002 10:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 46139    I believe in God and always will,No I don't attend
church never have and never will. However I do go to
the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses as often as
possible and they never ask for any money, take up
collections or anything like that.Author Id 46005,
I just can't understand how can anyone look at this
beautiful world, breath, talk, look at the detail time
and effort put into making this world for example
the tree's,green grass and the blue sky and not believe
in God.I Guess that's probably why alot of people
shine away from you because there afraid you see a
person who doesn't have something to believe in has
nothing to loose they believe they have no one to
answer to for their sins. When they have problem that
they can't resolve who do they turn to....Nobody..
and to me that makes them the most dangerous person
in the world.Do you believe that their is a Devil? *OSHEN*

Date: 8/12/2002 11:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 39350    LOL "OKAY" Yeah well that's fine if ur an athiest and all cuz I mean that's who you are. And ur aloud to voice ur opinion and the beauty part is...so am I. Well as u can guess it I'm a christian. I was a little offended by ur post. Church is not a cult, it's a place for other christians to be with other christians. But I can't change what u think and u can't change what I think. But maybe next time you should think about other people's feelings before you post something like this.
Date: 8/12/2002 11:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 24924    Alexander's Momma, While I certainly DO agree with you (because I DO understand the "GOD" you refer to is the God of REVEALED religion; the biblical god); I have to add that (for ME) I do not maintain that there IS *NO* God, period. I SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THERE IS *A* GOD. What I AM saying is: I LACK A GOD BELIEF.....THERE IS NOTHING TO THAT REGARD THAT MAKES ANY SENSE. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FOR ME: I AM SAYING; THAT I DO KNOW THAT THE BIBLICAL GOD IS IMPOSSIBLE<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<The thing is: Christians; the believers in the biblical god; ALL cannot seem to understand the difference in a DEIST==one who does believe in a GOD, but NOT the Christian God, versus an Atheist=one who LACKS a god belief..( in ANY god).
Date: 8/12/2002 11:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 56715    I am a religous person, grew up attending a Lutheran school and ent to church every Sunday.I no longer attend church except for on holidays(Easter and Cristmas).I have been married 6 years and 1 month tomorrow, my husband has no belief in God what so ever..The little bit he had left when our 1st son was born handicap..So I by no means select my friends by thier beliefs..I am entitled to mine as is everyone else, and if you don't believe who am I to argue with you...You appearantly have you reasons as do I....Good post. Danielle
Date: 8/12/2002 11:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 24924    "Should think about others feelings before you post this..". Really? THINK about it; if all the religious folks WOULD follow THAT "reasoning", then they would think about all the NON-BELIEVERS feelings when posting a post about how we are so bad, evil, lost, immoral and going to hell...JUST BECAUSE WE DON'T BELIEVE. Fair enough?
Date: 8/12/2002 11:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 16069    Thats your choice and I respect it.
Date: 8/12/2002 11:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 46515    WHATEVER
Date: 8/12/2002 11:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 46139    I'm with you *tigermonkey*...WHATEVER!!!*OSHEN*
Date: 8/12/2002 11:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 39350    The Thinker, I've got just one word for you...WHATEVER!!!! All that I'm hearing from you is complaining.Be glad u've got a life, and that God made this earth to put u on it. Sorry if ur feelings get hurt, but to me it doesn't seem like u take other people's feelings into consideration. What goes around comes around.
Date: 8/12/2002 12:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    LoveBug, MY "feelings" are not hurt. I merely was turning your statement around; using YOUR "logic" in pointing out how NON-BELIEVERS may be offended or feelings hurt. Now, by your response, and others response of "WHATEVER" appears to me that it is YOU that has your "feelings" hurt. ME "complaining all the time"? Hey, you know what; MY "complaining" is MY right; and the fact that you don't like it does not mean that I don't consider others feelings, period. You're making a judgement on ALL my life; on EVERY subject; every aspect, when you say that; and it is just not true. And, for YOUR information, I AM GLAD I HAVE A LIFE. And, NO, "God" did not create this earth to put me on it. This Earth came about as a result of just the right conditions for life to form; via The Big Bang; and evolution and the fact that my parents got together and I was conceived. SOOOOOO, come on back now, and let's hear your "whatever" again. When anyone has NOTHING to say, and or are afraid to speak up on the matter, they say: "Whatever!".
Date: 8/12/2002 12:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 54830    I must say, you worded this post extremely well! You didnt insult anyone, and you made a clear point! *claps* i personally think im to young to give you my views though.. sorry..
Date: 8/12/2002 12:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 14780    "The Thinker" will make you think..lol..I agree with the thinker...*smiles*....
Date: 8/12/2002 12:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 39350    well Thinker, people say whatever when someone posts something that's worthless. But I guess ur not aware of that. I never made any judgement on you. What I said I got from ur post. So if u feel u got judge then it's ur own fault. Thats fine if u believe the big bang theory. But let me ask u a question. What sparked the big bang? What made it so it was "Just the right condition?" Answer that for me? And complaining, yeah it's urs, but use it for good use.
Date: 8/12/2002 1:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    THIS post is "worthless"? Instead of saying "whatever", why would you not just go ahead and reply with YOUR opinion as to WHY you feel it is "worthless"?? It is "worthless" to you; it is offensive to you and or "hurts your feelings" because you simply do not agree with it, is that right? Now, you DID make a judgement on ME, when you said that I "don't consider others feelings" and assumed that I am not "Glad to have a life". As for "what sparked the big bang"? IF i thought for a minute that YOU...REALLY wanted to learn; and you REALLY wanted to know, then I would go into a long explanation, but I will just point you in the right direction in obtaining some knowledge on the matter, and some facts that I do agree with; and that can be obtained by YOU going to Google (or any search engine of your choice) and typing in the name of VICTOR STENGER, and reading lots of his writings, in particular "NOT BY DESIGN" which is positively brilliant. Or, you can type in Richard Dawkins, and there is tons of his writings, that should answer you quite well. I've studied all of these writings.
Date: 8/12/2002 1:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 39350    Well good for you Thinker. I've learned about the big bang. But why can't u answer my question if u've studied all about it? Well yeah I dont agree with this post and u dont agree with me. So why are u even arguing with me? Nothings gonne get accomplished here. No one is the better person here. Isn't that right?
Date: 8/12/2002 1:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    As for any "complaints should be for good use"? Of course MY "complaints" are of good use. Why else would I "complain"; why else would I speak up for what I believe in? I am not one to remain silent and passive when others go around preaching what I consider to be falsehoods. IF people do not speak out against such lies and deceptions; then the likes of Jerry Falwell & his "Moral" Majority will take over and ram their beliefs right down everyone's throats by working to legislate Laws that will be no good for us all! If people do not speak out; speak up; and against the crooks who hide behind their bigoted religious fronts while ripping us all off , then ALL OF US are in big T R O U B L E.
Date: 8/12/2002 2:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 39350    LOL! U can't tell me what I believe in is wrong. You can't do that. I can't tell u what to believe. And who said I was going around preaching? Never did that. And why are you still arguing with me? Give it up already.
Date: 8/12/2002 2:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 46139    Love Bug,I totally agree with you some people no matter
what just want to be right.I didn't respond to the *Thinker's*
post because there is no point,I said whatever because that's how
I feel not because I didn't have anything to say people who are not
confident in themselves and what they are saying get angry. So please
don't let the so called *thinker* get under your
skin with there "Big Bang Theory" of how we came to be
come on *Lovebug* they said they got here from there
Mom and dad (haha) I think that comment speaks for
itself.Believe in God,because he Believe's in you
and we are living Proof.*Oshen*
