Never Underestimate The Power Of The Ouija...True Story...(Hawk)

The following occurrences are all true about my ouija experiences. This happened while I lived in Fallbrook, California in 1996. It was not written to scare anyone, yet it just might. If anything, it will teach you not to make the same mistakes I did.

My husband and I had just returned from a trip to Las Vegas. While we were there he bought a ouija board. (I have posted two other ouija stories about our first experiences with it, usm85990.html and usm86674) My husband is a submariner in the Navy and had left for a three month ice run to the North Pole upon our return home. So, it was just me and the kitten (who was very mischievious) left to take care of his affairs. I had asked all of my friends to use the ouija board with me but everyone was afraid. The ones that weren’t afraid thought it was a big joke which made the board uncooperative. You have to be serious when you use the board. I really wanted to make it work like my husband and sister-in-law did, but I couldn’t find anyone that was suitable for a partner. I had heard you could use a ouija board by yourself. I was nervous, I admit. I saw The Exorcict with little Linda Blair using the ouija board before her possession, but dismissed that as Hollywood pulling in money. I was determined to get that board to work.

I arrived home from work and placed the board on the kitchen table. I sat at the head of the table with the board in front of me. I placed my hands on the planchette and waited. Nothing. “Are there any spirits that wish to talk?” I waited a few minutes and nothing. I must have sat there about 15 minutes waiting for that board to work, but the planchette never moved. So, feeling like an idiot talking to a piece of cardboard, I put it back in the box and left it alone for the night. The next day was the same. The following day, I sat down, placed my fingers on the planchette and said, “Okay, Does anyone want to talk?” No movement. “Last chance, anyone want to talk?” The planchette began to move ever so slowly. Almost like I wasn’t sure if it was really happening. It answered all of my questions correctly. The spirit said his name was BOB. Bob was the same spirit that my husband and sister-in-law communicated with when we were in Las Vegas. He was very nice and even had a little sense of humor. At times he said he was standing behind me. I was always to scared to look, but he would then spell out HA HA. I would laugh and we would carry on conversations like he was a real person.

I became very addicted to the board. I used it to talk to Bob every day after work. Sometimes I would even leave work for lunch to come home to use the board. Even on days when I was tired and wated to sleep or just wanted to watch television I still used the board. It was almost like it was calling me towards it. (After a little research over the past couple years, this addiction is called “entrapment”)

The more I used the ouija board by myself the faster the planchette moved, but slow enough to still read what it was spelling. Bob was able to tell me things like “Nice green shirt” or comment on the arrangement of my apartment. It spokked me a little that he was able to see me and everything in my home. But, at the same time I thought it was exceptionally cool that he was able to see where I was and communicate. After all, he was trusting. He claimed to be a man my husband pulled from a car wreck back when he was in college. Unfortunately, he was already dead after he was pulled from the wreck. He seemed grateful that my husband did try to save him, so I never feared him.

There were times when I did become a little scared and nervous. He used to take things and hide them. Just random things, like a hair brush would be on the bathroom sink. I would search all over for it and the next day would find it lying in the middle of the floor or on the kitchen counter. When I used the ouija board after finding these things he would tell me that he hid them followed by a HA HA! Also, if I had the radio on while I used the board Bob would tell me he liked the song or would tell me who was singing. He seemed to like the band R.E.M.

The occurrence that frightened me pretty badly was about 2-3 weeks after I started playing. There I sat at the table, as usual, talking to Bob asking questions. My cat was under the table and kept jumping at my legs and trying to scratch me. The previous owners of the cat used to rough house with her which made her think it was okay to get rough with me. I kept telling her to no and to stop. I never took my hands off the planchette as she continued to act up. The planchette started to move and I diverted my attention from the cat to the board. It spelled out B A D CAT. It started spelling slowly then worked up to an intense rapid pace. I stared at the board scared as my hands were dragged again and again to spell out the words B A D C A T over and over again until a huge thud was heard from the front room. I jerked my head to see what it was just as my glass cat candle holder bounced off the floor and landed beside me. It was thrown from the top of my entertainment center which is about 5 feet tall. I was terrified. I asked Bob if he had done that. He said YES…HA HA….I put the board in the box and ran down the street to the base where I worked. All the girls were in the barracks and they would have thought I was joking if I hadn’t been so scared.

The candle holder was made out of thick glass and was in the shape of a cat curled up and lying down. It was pretty heavy so there was no way for it to just fall. But, it didn’t just fall. It hit the floor with a force unknown so hard that it bounced across the room beside me.

How it changed my life:

This scared me pretty bad. You would think the average person would have gotten rid of the board and never touched one again. But, I guess I'm not the average person. I was still curious even though I was scared and I went back to it.....I will post a Part 2 sometime this week...Hawk

Date: 8/11/2002 5:14:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 277    Has that been proven, 61172? My experiences have been proof enough for me that magic does not have to be used for paranormal forces. Any game that moves by itself, new or old, is mysterious.

Date: 8/11/2002 5:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 9130    WOAH>>> Our ouija experiences are VERY similar-- I believe your story TOTALLY... You know what scared me and my husband away from using the ouija board anymore? One night when we were playing with it in his dads apartment and we were sitting on the floor next to the kitchen when a glass that was sitting in the middle of the counter FELL OFF and SHATTERED... the glass was no where NEAR the edge of the counter... that totally scred the hail out of us... so I totally believe you!!!
Date: 8/11/2002 5:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 16376    Omg, that is so creepy! I used to be kind of a Ouija addict myself a few years ago, I used to be obsessed with asking all sorts of questions. Nothing this creepy ever happened to me though...

Hate to say it, but I thought majority of the ouija stories on here were made up, but I believe ya. Maybe I *DON'T* want to try it after all...

Date: 8/12/2002 3:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 59407    Whoa, freaky! The first time I used an ouija board I asked it, "When is my grandpa going to die?" It said "Wednesday" and he really died on wednesday! I continued using it though. I use it three times a week! My spirit, RAVEN, is here to stay!
Date: 8/12/2002 3:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    Holy CRAP!!!! LOL..thats all I have to say here..

Date: 8/13/2002 3:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 21862    lol I have three of those cat candle holders... and yes they are pretty heavy.... this is why people really shouldn't play it alone unless there well experienced in the board... addiction is bad especially if your lonely and seem to have no one to talk to... but you can learn a lot from this and still continue to use the Ouija but not everyday and pace yourself to once a month lol...
Date: 8/15/2002 1:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 60945    wow, that's really freaky!! I would have been scared out of my wits, and I would have also asked Bob to please stop throwing things... Demonicangel

Date: 9/8/2002 9:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 57158    I know what you mean with the candle holder, i have one of a cat also, and it is pretty heavy, so you're right they don't fall that easily. Good post. ~*Dangerously Tempted*~
Date: 7/2/2003 6:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 45684    I'm glad that I came across this post. I had a similar ouija experience that I don't like to talk about. I still use it though, but only occasinally and never by myself. Off to part 2.
