The life of Shelby Monroe

Out of the ashes of pain, rises a magnificent creature. Shelby Monroe was one of those creatures. Born to a poor family, raised in the country, struggle was a word Shelby knew intimately. From the start, Shelby dreamed big. Different dreams, different times, but through all the differences, through the bad times and the bittersweet times, the dreams never died.

At the age of 23, Shelby knew it was time to get on with life before it left her behind. She'd had pain in her life, she knew more was to come. However, Shelby viewed life with eyes older than her birth certificate stated and that implied a certain wisdom when it came to dealing with the ups and downs that life could throw with what sometimes felt like the force of a hurricane. Shelby Monroe was, in essence, born again through the burning fire of pain, and tempered steel was not strong enough to break the spirit struggling to be free.

As soon as Shelby made her decision, her life was thrown into the eye of the hurricane. There was a calm before the storm where she had to lose her heart to find her heart. After so many years of hiding her heart away from pain and agony, it was a laborious awakening. It took time and trust for her heart to open to the man who took it. Most of the time, Shelby was happy in the relationship, but she knew in the deepest recesses of her heart that the love was not meant to be. Denial could only work so long before everything fell to pieces. And Shelby's heart once again was destroyed by someone she trusted.

After a time, the pain lessened, and Shelby decided she did not want love. Love was for the weak, or for those so confident in themselves that it did not matter to be heartbroken. For Shelby had had more than her heart destroyed with the painful awakening in the end. Also destroyed was the confidence of a woman, the feeling of being loveable. Now Shelby knew that she was not the type to deserve love. Or happiness. Shelby did know where her future would lead, but she did not have the confidence to believe that she would one day be loved. For life was not and never would be good to Shelby. Shelby just wanted peace. If nothing else in life was to be gifted to her, she just wanted the peace of knowing that hurt would never touch her heart again.

Eventually, Shelby became involved with a man, someone who she knew she would never love. It was perfect for what she wanted, someone who was safe from hurting her heart. Someone who would never be able to touch that place inside that was tender and aching for love, but at the same time, afraid to reach for it. The pain would be too great, unbearable. Should her heart be broken again, it would devestate her to the point of unbearability. In the end, the relationship did not work out for the simple reason that it was never intended by God for two people to come together out of nothing more than being lonely.

Then came another. The story of the other is not yet finished, but Shelby knows in her heart that this time, it is meant to be. He is the one meant for her by God. Pray God he never breaks the heart that loves him more than it has ever loved. Pray God he never breaks the heart that he holds in his hand, the heart that yearns for love and acceptance. God Willing, the heart will never be broken again.

The heart that beats strong in God's love will survive anything, however, so Shelby knew that there would be good times and bad to survive and get through. What Shelby wants more than anything in this world is for the love in her heart to be blessed by God, to be strong in His love. What Shelby wants more than anything is for her heart to be strong in love, not pain. That strength will be there always, given from God, and the promise of happiness is always there for her to grasp. Shelby Monroe has the Amazing Grace to survive. Feeling loved, being loved, being cherished. These are the things that Shelby wants. Mostly... Shelby wants to matter to the person who holds her heart. Because he matters to her.

As a creature rises from the ashes of pain... and so Shelby Monroe did... a magnificent creature who possesses a self will and confidence that will never fade into the sand. Shelby Monroe deserves to be loved and cherished.
