It did get me thinking too...at least enough to want to do a little more investigating into it. I guess just about anything can be real. I certainly wouldn't just rule it out off hand until I checked out what these people had to say. I will probably look it up tomorrow on the Net. |

Date: 7/23/2002 12:26:00 AM From Authorid: 10146 I believe its real. I also believe it is of a Evil Nature. Just because he can fortell the Future, does not mean it is a Good thing. If you see what is Real, such as this creature appears, You better start rebuking it in the Name of Jesus. Better not to Know, the Future by which means he tells it, than to know the death that he Brings with it. The Story is true. You can find documentation on the internet. |
Date: 7/23/2002 12:27:00 AM From Authorid: 45800 My mother told me that moths are the spirits of relatives or friends that passed away, and they came back to visit us. So it's a chinese culture not to kill them. Not that you should kill any other creatures. I confess I used to but I'm learning. |
Date: 7/23/2002 4:31:00 AM From Authorid: 33517 I just watched this movie yesterday...I think that it could be true...Why would they base this movie on a true story if it wasn't ...**Big Candadian Hugs** |

Author 58303, Hope this helps! Just who, or what, was the Mothman? Most of what many individuals know about the "Mothman" originated in the book titled "The Mothman Prophecies" by John Keel. In the new movie from Sony Pictures starring Richard Gere, the John Keel book has been adapted in such a way that Gere's character is based on Keel himself. This may confuse the actual story of Mothman in the Point Pleasant, West Virginia area, with the Hollywood scriptwriter's version of what happened. Here are some frequently asked questions [FAQs] about the Mothman: When was the Mothman first spotted in Point Pleasant, West Virginia? Mothman was first spotted in the late evening [around 11:30pm] of November 15, 1966, by two young couples in the "TNT Area" north of Point Pleasant. The "TNT Area" has an official name: McClintic Wildlife Station. The couples were Mr. and Mrs. Roger Scarberry and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mallette. What were they doing in the TNT Area that night? According to reports published in the Point Pleasant Register and also picked up on the national news wire services, the couples were chasing "parkers." The TNT Area is a favorite hotspot as a lover's lane -- miles of abandoned roads to hide away. What is the TNT Area? During World War II, a number of small farms north of Point Pleasant were joined together to create an explosives manufacturing plant that went by the official name of "The West Virginia Ordnance Works." It consisted of two power plants, the manufacturing facilities, a system of underground tunnels and drains, and an expansive system of concrete "igloos" to store the finished explosives. After the war the land was acquired by the State of West Virginia to become the McClintic Wildlife Station, with fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities, including camping. What did Mothman look like? According to the original eyewitnesses, the Mothman had red eyes as a dominant feature -- they reflected the car's headlights that the two young couples were riding in. The body stood the size of a man, about six feet, with gray leathery wings spanning ten feet. It flew silently, and the terrified couples hurried back to Point Pleasant at speeds approaching 100 miles an hour -- and Mothman allegedly kept pace with their car, flying effortlessly to follow them to the outskirts of town. No known photographs of the creature exist. |
