It's taken by a shot in the arm,
she' thinks it does no harm.

She puts her head back,
and turns very lax.

All of a sudden she's calm,
and acts as if there was nothing wrong.

Couple hours go by,
and she's lost her little high.

Now she sits and shakes,
and also gets a pounding headache.

Her stomach is in a knot,
and she doubles over in a squat.

After the pain subsides,
it's back on her mind.

She'll do what she has to just to get by,
as long as they give her a piece of their high.

She says: " I don't want to change,
it keeps me from the strife of everyday life."

She goes back out the door and lurks around,
trying to figure out where her next fix can be found.

Date: 8/8/2002 10:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 5940    This is a scary but very true poem. It's sad when someone prefers a drug just to get by everyday. Well written.
