Out of the ashes I rise
God's Grace lifting me high
the past is cleansed
for God has blessed me from up high.
Under the cross I cried
in Jesus Name I prayed
asked forgiveness and begged help
for the past had hooks driven far too deep.
Oh I praise His name
for looking above now to the floor of Heaven
I see the bright hues and shining sun
and I know that the darkness that once dwelled
has gone forever due to God's Grace.
Where once I was darkness
slowly edging the way into my soul
hooks growing so that I couldn't escape
I knew it was time to ask Him for help
I knew that to fight the evil inside
His strength must back my plea.
And so I prayed for His strength
His graceful touch upon my life and heart
my soul I asked Him to cleanse
due to God's Grace I am clean
free of the past
free now to fly upon the wings of God's strength.
