Land That I Love

standing at arms,
while waiting for the officer to yell;
something,
anything,
so that we are moving,
following orders...
standing straight and tall,
knowing we should be proud...
it's not easy to get this far;
many leave before the first few months
of basic training are over...
the sun washes over us,
and I feel the heat starting to warm me...
we continue following orders,
and I remember why I joined...
it made sense to me,
and I could help America become better...
the trumpets are blowing,
and the drums are sounding,
while war marches ever onward...
we will fight to the death if need be,
for we show what our contry is worth...
America
the land of the free
and the home of the brave...
the land of opportunity,
and of responsibilty...
for freedom comes with a price...
and I follow my fellow soldiers
ever onward, knowing we are
protecting that beautiful land
that we love...
