Everything is Pointless-Astrocreep

Ok, this isn't an original here, but I like it a lot. It's from Ecclesiastes 1:2-11. Your version is probably a little different, but the message is the same: Generations come and go, but it makes no difference. The sun rises and sets, then hurries around to rise again. The wind blows north and south, here and there; twisting back and forth- getting no where. The rivers run to the sea, then return to the rivers only to run back to the sea. Everything is pointless... No matter how much we see, we are never happy. No matter how much we hear we are not content. So I say that it is best for men that they be happy in their work; for it is what they are here for and no one can bring them back to life to enjoy what will be in the future. So let them enjoy it now.

Date: 7/13/2002 9:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 37900    Every "thing" may be pointless, but people and the relationships we form with them are never hollow. If we learn anything from the wisdom of Ecclesiastes, it should be that we are destined for greater lives than can be fulfilled with what we make or buy.

Date: 7/15/2002 1:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 29387    why should man be doomed to settling for trying to be hapy in an environment he cannot? Ecclesiastes may have a profound thought, but I'd rather search for happiness that ltamately deny it.
Date: 7/16/2002 10:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 58401    In my opion humanity add it's own point to life. e set goals and achieve them. Happienies is a goal. Wealth is a goal. power, expertise... etc. We make goals as individuals and a society making our own 'points'. That is sentience is it not? If we had a predetrimed purpose then what would be the purpose of our sentience? If only more of us could gain happinies from improvement rather than perfection. Gain happenies from the fact that you are improving yourself rather than being perfect in some aspect.
