Hi, Friends! Well, things didn't go exactly as I wanted in my new driving job, but I didn't freak out and run for the hills like I would have in the past. I figure, if you have a bad couple of days, you can live through it and see if things get better. If you have a bad 6 or 7 weeks, then maybe it's time to move on... ARRRGGHHH!!!! They sent me to downtown Chicago for my first run with them. How sadistisc is that? You have to remember that I've NEVER delivered in a city before, I was hauling explosives into the coal mines for 3 years! THAT was easy! Anyway, my load was 44 thousand pounds of Harley Davidson catalogues. I wanted one, but I was late with my load and didn't want to ask. I did manage to tear off the front end of my truck jack-backing it into this place not meant to fit a mule cart. My bumper was hanging down and I didn't have anything to tie it up with so I used my coax cable from my CB...I got into the repair shop at the TA(truck stop) and they like to have died laughing at me. Hey, whatever works. I blew a belt, too, and used a peice of pantyhose to make a new one. Don't get me wrong-I love to drive, love my profession, love everything about it except for the LAST TWO DAYS!!! Now I have on canned peas and carrots, seperate-HMMM, if I wrecked, not all would be lost! LOL! I have to deliver near home on Monday morning, then who knows where again. I feel like I got all the bad stuff out of the way for the next year. Got to have a thick skin and a good sense of humour to be in this biz!!! I can't wait for my first trainee-I want to do the right thing and scare her into not relaxing. At the same time loving it and not regretting going through school...y'all can help, I NEED input!! Happy Trails, Kids, next week I might send something less depressing!:) I'm not sad, I like my new truck-it's soooo big though! I'm not used to 53" of trailer. As it is, YEA!!!! I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING! Except the fence, and we're not counting that.
