how many calories a day?

Hi all I'm just wondering if anyone has or is counting calories to lose or maintain their weight? What I want to know is how many calories do you eat a day and how much you weigh? and if you do any excercises? if yes what kind and for how long? I know what most of you might be thinking...another weight loss post....for those of you who are thinking this I'm sorry I'm just curious about counting calories and if in fact they work. thanks soooooo much!

Date: 7/13/2002 7:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    don't count... never did never wanted to.. mother did and thought it was wierd!! as for a scale.. never step on them.. they are evil.. they tell you something you don't really want to know and are always putting you down*L* if you don't belive me think about it.. every time you step on a scale it makes you want to lose weight even when your not overweight!

You need to have the right amount 'cos if you have too little, you don't lose weight. I would try to find out from the experts. WW have fantastic, realistic weight loss programs, where you cook your own food. Sensible eating really. Try them. Take care,

Less carbos and more veggies, fruits and high protein items help me. Gotta have the protein or I get wimpee. Starch turns to sugar and doesn't help me at all. Walking will come when I get heart stronger. (That's another story) Hey,Hey,Paula  
Date: 7/13/2002 7:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 23129    i have been counting calories on and off for years and it varies for me because somedays i will eat hardly anything and not exercise and other days i will eat more and exercise to compensate. i won't tell you how much i weigh, but i am a 17 yr old girl and i stand 5'8" barefoot, so i am not a little person. i weigh more than i look. it depends on how tall you are and how much you weigh as to the caloric intake per day. i try to go below what is recommended for me which is about 1400. i try to do 1,000 to 1,200 or below (it's not necessarily good for you, but it works!). i also try to walk 5 miles a day, do sit ups and lift small weights and stretch. plus it's important to drink lots of water and take daily vitamins.

I tried eating 1,200 calories but couldn't, before night fell I was eating half a cake! LOL thanks you guys for commenting on yet another weight loss post!

Date: 7/13/2002 8:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    well on my weight which was 125lbs I was on a weight loss programme for 1213 calories, but I worked out a gym for about 1 1/2 hrs every 2nd day, now in that workout time I power walked for 35 mins..it appears that the amount of carbohydrates one eats can be a problem, so to maintain my current weight I really cut out fatty foods and counted the amount of carbos I ate..you need to speak to someone in a weight loss programme to suit you..but good luck hun....Zema
