Saturday morning we all met at Andy's house. From there we were going to walk to Roger's. That way we wouldn't have to leave any cars and have to explain to Mr. Hopkins why we dumped his son in the middle of Disneyland.
We arrived at Roger's house at precisely 7:30. He was waiting for us by his dad's van. As we strolled casually toward him, Roger looked surprised. "I really didn't think you'd show up."
Andy playfully punched him on the shoulder, "You think we don't like you or something?"
Rubbing his shoulder, Roger began, "Well..."
"Oh come on! Don't tell me you didn't realize we were just teasing! Why, we only pick on people we really like. It sort of eliminates the Wussies, who can't take some teasing."
Roger's face brightened a little. You could tell he wanted so badly to believe what Andy was saying.
Lindy laid her hand lightly on Roger's shoulder. "Yeah, we always wanted you to hang out with us. You were the one that was always leaving!" Roger blushed deeply. (We had always suspected he had a crush on Lindy from the way he watched her when he thought no one was looking.)
"I gassed the van up for you, and she's ready to roll." called Mr Hopkins from the front porch. "You kids fun and I'll see you back here about 11:00 tonight. I expect you to make a full day of it."
"Thank you, Mr. Hopkins!" we chorused. "Yeah! Thanks Dad!" Roger called brightly. He had believed every word that Andy and Lindy had said.
