Audiogalaxy has finally bit the dust...

~~~~Hello Gang, long time no see
~~~~I would just like to let my fellow free-loaders that audiogalaxy is no more. Actually they are still there but as of now you cannot download any music because of a settlement the reached with the Recording Industry. Yeah I know it really *edited for content*...but what can you do,

~~~ I tell you what some of these recording artist need to do is when they put out an album the whole thing needs to be good and not just a couple of songs. Then I might go out and throw down twenty bucks. But do they do that. No, they expect me to pay twenty bucks for a couple of good tracks that the album has. So they should excuse me if I decide to download a song now and again.
~~~dont get me wrong I see there side of it too. If I owned a tortilla factory and saw people were giving away my tortillas for free, well it doesnt take a genius to see that thats a lot of flour not being paid for. But then again if you bought a dozen of my tortillas and only two were tasty and the others were bland, I would be the only one to blame for my tortillas being given away....

~~~and another thing, I discovered a few new bands through audiogalaxy, bands that I probably wouldnt have ever given a chance if it wasnt for a "free" download.
~~~Well audiogalaxy, thank you for the free tortillas, it was fun while it lasted

EL TORO

How it changed my life:

using the tortilla analogy made me hungry.

Date: 6/23/2002 9:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 15033    It made me hungry too. Does this mean they won't be taking money from my credit card for membership anymore? I noticed in the last week, most songs had X's beside them....well, I found another site last night just a good. It's called MP3raid (Free). Found everything I looked for, and they downloaded with ease. Oh, you got sauce on your chin...
Date: 6/23/2002 9:39:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 27360    Hello Thunder, Its been a while...I am sure they still be more than happy to take money from you, From what I read on there website the groups are still up and the boards. It is just every song has an X on it. MP3raid you say....thanks for letting me know about the sauce.
Date: 6/23/2002 9:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 50435    I feel that all of these p2p riggins are the best thing to happen in a long time. But not for the obvious reason that you're all probably thinking(free tunes)...LOL. My hope is that by losing profit due to these p2p sites will force the music industry to put out quality albums like they used to. Like El Toro said, so many artists put out albums with one or two hits on it and the rest of the album is "filler". I don't like to be fooled or taken advantage of. If I like an artist, then it only makes sense to me to support them, so that they can continue to provide me with what I like. But to dupe me into dropping $20 for one song is insulting, to say the least. What I do is check out the tunes on an album of interest to me. If I can find enough decent tunes on it then I'll go buy it. If I don't, well, I listen to the song that I d/led that I DO like until I lose interest, then I grin at the extra $20 in my wallet. Why is it considered fair that they take my money, give me one good tune and a bunch of crap, and laugh all the way to the bank? Meanwhile, it's considered criminal for me pull a fast one on them and pay them what the album is actually worth...which a lot of the time these days is nothing. I say tough cookies, put out quality, and then we'll talk about doing away with free MP3s. Take care and hey, now I'm hungry too...LOL...Gallytuck.

Date: 6/23/2002 11:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 37101    So Audiogalaxy is down, so what? Play Taps, have some heart felt words and go download the next best P2P program! LOL! -
Date: 6/24/2002 6:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 54987    Thanks for that post. I too was a big free loader from audiogalaxy. Then one day it wouldn't come up on screen... They didn't even have a page saying why. Now I know. Thanks. I now use Blubster. They don't have the variety audiogalaxy had but its getting better. The thins is that blubster doesn't have a centralised base like audog and napster had. You just download the program and you can instantly access the music folders of all the other members all over the world. So, its just like your friend down the road giving you a copy of his music. We all do that don't we? Well this is the same. The program is just a downloader. Stay cool :¬
Date: 6/24/2002 7:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 25828    use bearshare...they've still got music out there.
