well, i can't speak as a parent...but i do know this rule very well and i think its not a very good one...my aunt does it all the time...my mom has a rule that is good...her rule: u try it once, if u don't like it, then thats ok and u don't have to eat it...and u can't force a kid to eat foods they don't like....its unfair, when u think about it..they need to chose their foods on their own...if ur worried about their health, then talk to a doctor and get advice on how to give them their nutrients without making them eat what they don't want to...better than forcing them. |

ROFL.. My sons never eat veggies except for corn and well since I used to be force fed as I child I do not make my children clean their plate, They take what they can eat and they eat it. I give my son vitamins to help replace what he doesn't get from the veggies he doesn't eat. And thankfully my boys are happy and healthy, My oldest is 20 and 6'1 and strong as an ox and my other one is 11 and a big boy too. As for who is right or wrong.. I don't think there is a right answer here, You are right if it is how you feel and the same goes for your ex. |

u have to be careful with 2 year olds....u should have mentioned the age..lol....well, i stick by my idea...try and get that one formula they have that gives the kids their nutrients, just to see if he likes it....and then let the kid eat what he likes...i remember my parents making me drink cranberry juice when i was younger because it was healthy for me and helped with something, not sure what..and it really ruined it for me..i mean, now whenever i accidently drink it..i can't stop gagging...sometimes being forced to eat or drink something can be harmful...maybe not healthwise, but harmful in other ways...hope that helps. |

sorry, im a kid here, and alls i can say is.. DO NOT make us eat EVERYTHING off the plate, what if were actually full, not just trying to skimp on the veggies... heres a tip, if he trys to do that, save it for later and make him eat that instead of a snack.. luck, GigaBitez |

When I was growing up my parents made me clean my plate to, and I hated that. Now that I'm a parent I say if they're not hungry or don't like something then they don't have to eat it. If they choose not to eat at dinner then if there is a treat then they miss out. They both know this and are ok with that rule. Gentel Breeze |

well being an older person speaking here I dont think you should make your kids clear their plate either if they cant, but as long as they try a bit of everything I reckon thats ok...cheers |
