Anyone Here Belong to MENSA?

Ok, my friend told me to take this IQ test a while back and I did. He thinks that I'm a genius....he still has a LOT to learn! LOL Anyway, he tried to convince me to go take the official MENSA test to see if I could get in. Well, I don't really know too much about MENSA, other than they offer a few benefits. I've heard that to be in MENSA, you have to be an atheist (or at least, agnostic). Is that true? Only one person has ever told me this, but I've not done any research into it. The same person told me that anyone in MENSA is at a genius level, and because they are...they are smart enough to know that there cannot be a God. Like I said, I've not really looked into it, so I'm not too sure if it's true. Does anyone know if it is? ~Charisma K.~

Date: 6/15/2002 5:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51684    Well, if mensa means "dummy", maybe I really should consider joining!!! LOL ~Charisma K.~
Date: 6/15/2002 5:17:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51684    I don't know if it is an official rule, the impression that I got from it was: if one is religious, they won't be accepted socially into mensa. Oh well, I'm off to go check out the website and see if I can find anything useful. Thanks for your help. ~Charisma K.~
Date: 6/15/2002 5:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 15157    LOL...I know MENSA is the abbreviation for something lol@ME!
Date: 6/15/2002 5:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 15157    Your welcome!
Date: 6/15/2002 5:23:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51684    Well, the website said that religion is not an issue. I guess that answers my question. LOL ~Charisma K.~
Date: 6/15/2002 6:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 49150    I missed getting in by 2 points on the test. I haven't shriveled up and died yet. LOL
Date: 6/15/2002 6:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 42423    I passed the entrance exam, but did not join because I could see no point, it is mostly just a meeting of people patting themselves on the back, I can manage without that level of self gratification. As for religion, I was not asked about it, but I live in the uk, don't know if that make a difference to it. PS, like you I took the exams due to peer pressure.
Date: 6/15/2002 7:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 15033    If you don't mind me asking, where did you take your test? I know the real test is about 2 hours long...unlike the phony ones online where everyone ends up a genius...
Date: 6/15/2002 7:25:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51684    My friend has a book called Self-Scoring IQ Test by Victor Serebriakoff (sp?), if I'm not mistaken he's the president of MENSA. It's a really long test and there are practice tests in there, too. There's a lot of parts to it and they're all like 30 minutes long. ~Charisma K.~
Date: 6/15/2002 7:27:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51684    Ironically enough, I scored higher on the book test than the other one I took online once. LOL ~Charisma K.~
Date: 6/15/2002 7:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 18527    I passed the test a while ago but since I have no money for membership dues... I didn't join... I think there are dues... I honestly don't know... I'm too lazy!
Date: 6/15/2002 7:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    Go to this website and it will answer the questions you have presented.

Date: 6/15/2002 7:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 50435    I think it's a joke. MENSA...lol. What exactly are they trying to say? "Oh, I have an IQ that is astronomically larger than yours, Gallytuck, you feeble-minded serf..." Awright. While you're at it why don't you change the distributor on the car? Hey, come and help me fix my guitar amplifier. And then we can program the VCR. Would you like to design my website for me? After that you can bake me a cake. What? You can't do that? Why not? You're a genius!!! Obviously someone of your intellect could handle such simple, for-the-average-mind tasks. LMBO. I feel that MENSA is just a last-resort social club for those who "don't play well with other kids". Maybe the condensating attitude has something to do with the fact that "normal" people don't want to associate with them. So they may be geniuses, and can figure out number patterns and have a great sense of logic, but I can meet and maintain friendships with people, have a practical sensibility, and I can bake a cake...LOL. Take care and I don't see why ANYONE would want to join that organization...Gallytuck.
Date: 6/15/2002 7:49:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51684    OMG!!! There are dues...that's crazy! You're so smart that you have to PAY us money! LOL Oh well, it's not like I'm gonna join anytime soon! LOL ~Charisma K.~
Date: 6/15/2002 7:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 51684    I'm with you, Gallytuck (but I don't have the confidence to do it anyway)...Although, I wouldn't mind receiving some of their benefits! LOL ~Charisma K.~
Date: 6/15/2002 8:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 15033    I had that book when I was about 22. I took it and scored 140. But I always wondered if taking the practice test gave me an advantage, because when tested in high school and then when I was 23 I came out a 120 both times. Those tests are given by someone else timing you and scoring you, and there is no practice run. But hey, maybe I'm higher like the book says....?
Date: 6/16/2002 3:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 42423    Sorry I did not respond earlier Thunderhead, but here goes anyways, I took my test in Cardiff, but that wont do you any good sadly as its in the UK.
Date: 8/17/2002 4:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    When I was younger I took an IQ test in school and scored a 168 I think...it was really long actually I had to take 2 tests. The tests I have taken online I usually score between 125 and 160. I do not really think they are reliable. If you are really interested in it though go for it. I think there may be an age requirement although I am not sure about that. You should be able to find lots of info online though....good luck!!!
