good that you're taking action, it wasn't right, and the principal should call you back...call again. go to the school board meeting and that will cause them grief. |

Wow!! Things like this happen and it seems like the school has a personal grudge with your child. Go and call your friend! TimI |

That's horrible! At my old school, they have started the same debit system. When I was at home, I was reading the flyer about it my brother brought home. I remember it said that if the child didn't have enough money, they would be given lunch anyway, and the parents would be given a notice, like a bill to pay later. That way the child still gets lunch. If you get no response from anyone at the school, definitley do the newspaper thing. That will get some attention. |

They do that here at our schools too. Sad isn't it? The things that some adults do to our children in schools would make your hair stand on end. Just now my children are beginning to tell me about things that went on in their schools and my kids are grown now. I now understand why they were grouchy when they came home. |

That's horrible. I'm glad you are taking action. There are only 3 days of school left and they couldn't just send a note home with him saying you owe me a dollar? How pathetic. |

my daughters school has the same setup, parents pay X amount and kids use a pin number. Lnches are only $1 yet one month, $20 doesn't buy you 20 lunches. The next month $20 buys you 22 lunches. We have a policy that no child goes unfeed and everyone gets the same lunch. They even make the kids who are allergic to milk take it anyway, those kids then get a cup of water to go with the lunch. I say write the paper. |

yes this is awful!! the school my grandson went to, took his lunch and wouldnt let him eat until he finished some assignments. WHEN I went one day early to pick him up as he had a dentist appointment, and this was after two in the after noon, his lunch was still sitting at the teachers desk. Needless to say the teacher or principal is NO LONGER working there at that school. Raise cain about it, as this is WRONG> |

thats terrible! and i mean...they can at least compensate a poor hungry kid for ONE day until you know they can notify a parent. a kid shouldnt go hungry like that they really shouldnt. i mean whats one day? then they can go home and you know tell their parents and their parents can do something about it. i think these darn school boards are just getting a little too cheap. |

Good for you! Im glad to see that you stick up for your kid like that. A lot of parents wouldnt. For God sakes, if any of the teachers knew, Im sure they wouldve even gave him some money for food. And I cant believe the cafeteria lady didnt just give it to him. Thats pretty low! |

yipes that's awful, in grade school we had the SAME system....pin stuff they'd stamp your hand when you had ONE day's lunch left in your account and then the next day if you had nothing for the following day so parents could send money. ONE time they did not stamp me. what they did in THOSE cases if it wasn't 'chronic' they would just give you the full lunch and then you had an IOU to the cafeteria.... |

I know exactly how you felt about this. Believe it or not. the same thing happened to my child years ago when this sysyem was first introduced. I wanted to cry, it was embarrassing to my daughter. I went to the board of education and the school officials.I threatened to take the incident to the paper and tv, see my child had NO lunch and it was an error in the system because the money WAS there!! Raise cane, that should never happen to a child, ever!!! I am sorry and I hope this never happens again. |
