This is normally the "daredevil" tactics that they think will make them look big in the eyes of their friends. I guess they don't really contemplate the reality of failure in this. That motorway is a 70MPH 3 lane each way highway, where speeds reach 100MPH (I should know I drive this road every day) and if a child was hit at the speed by a car (let alone a 12 ton bus doing 70 or a 30 ton truck doing 55) there would not be much left to pick up |

I think it is a belief that 'nothing will happen to them' along with a pinch of sheer stupidity. Do they ever stop and think of the poor driver's life that they will ruin should they get run over? |

ok, i'm a teenager, and i will tell you right now that we are stupid. that's it, no more no less. we think nothing will happen to us so we do stupid things without thinking about the consequences. yup, so maybe one day when one of them gets hit, they'll learn. |

Their parents were probably unaware of their childrens activities. Next time I would advise you just call the police. 999 or 112 from a mobile. You will have to give your name, but not address etc. |

I think most kids live with the "Im invincible" attitude..they think nothing bad could ever happen to them so they are constantly testing fate..Its ridiculous..your right..It does make you wonder where the parents are doesnt it? |

Temporary insanity I think... I've seen teenagers do some stupid things... then if you look at TV shows like MTV's "Jackass" (which I LOATHE) It glorifies sensless acts... maybe that has something to do with it! |

OMG! That is insane! I don't remember ever doing things like that when I was a teen but I was a loner and didn't need to prove my bravery. But you are right, that kind of behavior can be deadly to the teens and to the drivers. A driver might try to swerve to advoid the collision and hit the bridge abuttment. My brother was killed when someone ran out in front of him. The teens lived but my 22 year old brother did not. Call the police next time Sweetie and be more adult than those around you. |

It's probably a mix of peer pressure and boredom and poor parenting skills from their parents. It is a shame that children find it necessary to entertain themselves in such ways. What is even more of a shame is the fact that not only are they compromising their own lives but also the lives of the drivers and passengers of the cars. Very sad. |

I agree with LadyLuck....kids think they will live forever. And, kids use peer-pressure to force other kids to do, what they themselves are actually afraid to do! it's easier to "bait" someone, than to do something yourself. Good post & WELCOME HADES!...... Hope to see more of your posts. |

Some of the stunts on jackass are funny (I like when they pretend to be from an asylum and ask for directions and the guy in the straight jacket runs out of the van...) but some are just... yuck... swallowing the goldfish? Ugh! |

Probably the worst thing is that if a child was killed (through their own stupidity in this case) it would be the driver who was held at fault in a court of law in the UK, would probably lose thier licence to drive and may well end up in prison for at least 12 months |
