The love for each other we once shared
Is now but a mere memory for me to know
The harmonious life in unity that we began
I remember from a lifetime so long ago

Two lives joined; two hearts beating as one
Cherished moments we thought we would forever share
As the passion burned deep within our bodies and souls
Lost in a world of our own; oblivious of anyone, anywhere

So young and naive, you and I, against the world
Believing "true" love alone would always carry us through
When faced with life's obstacles that would be thrown our way
So much we had to learn, yet everything we thought we knew

Then one day it happened, the reality began to set in
This life together, we had been too young to start
We struggled to hold on to that which we had built
But together we watched as our world slowly fell apart

Over time, with age, the wounds have now healed
Left behind are the scars of a memory created
With thoughts I remember from a lifetime so long ago
What a life together we might have had; if only we had waited
