I think it should remain 18 years old because so many under 18-year olds work, full-time. So, they need transportation |

i think that when a child is 14/15 a learning permit should be issued, but a license should wait until 18, that way there is 3-4 years training |

well, they threatned that here. but the only thing that they changed was when you get your permit you can't drive with anyone but 21 and older, and you have to wait 6 months after you have your permit to get your license. |

Age is soooo subjective to maturity! lol pick the president, but don't choose if you can handle a drink!... fight for your country, they choose you are old enough to die for it, but not old nuff to choose for youself if you wanna take a sip of whatever!! lol I think the age that is in place is suitable personally.... but again, I am for ROAD testing people over the age of 70 |

I think if the parents think there child is old enough at the age of 16 then they should let them take the test and get it if they pass. but if it takes you 3 or more times then the parents should make you wait cause you are not mucher enough to read and larn the book . that is just my thought. |

It's up to the state for one...and personally I think it should stay 16. I like the Graduated license that they are doing now too. I think though, instead of 6 months of practice it should be a year. So then the driver learns how to drive in all weather and knows how to handle many more situations. |

I think 16 is a good age, besides do you want to have a bunch of kids going off to college (driving unsupervised)just learning how to drive? TarHeelGirl |

if they do it they'll have to keep upping the age of driving because it has to do with experience if you take a 45 year old and give them a permit then let them get there drivers license after the states set time they will drive just as bad as a 16 year old with there license it has to do with experience and thats why the jestr hates statistics |

Here in Canada, its 16, but you have to have your permit for at least one year before you can try for your license..You can now also keep your permit for four years which I think is GREAT, because it doesnt put as much pressure on you and you can get LOTS of practise before you get your actual license.. |

in my state the earliest u can get ur permit is 16 and can get ur licence 6 months after it..but u can keep it for 2 years i like the driving age...the 1 year for the permitt does seem like a good idea even though i wouldn't admit it until after i get my licence in aug lol shhhh |

hehe. it doesn't matter on the age. it depends on the maturity level. they think a 16 year old is mature enough to handle that. and i must say, i agree, seeing as how i am 16 and have been licensed for almost 2 months. |

I dont think changing the age to 18 will really help anything, cuz they will still be just as inexperienced at 18 as 16. If they could make a law that has a licensed driver over 18 ride with them until they are 18 that might be a good thing tho... ya know what im sayin? ~~ |

Personally I think it should be 18. I think you should have to drive supervised from age 16 until 18. I don't feel most 16 year olds are ready for such a responsibility. Just like I think you should have to be 20 before you can legally smoke & about 23 before you can legally drink. LOL I'll bet you younger people are glad I don't make the rules huh? Hee hee Oh yeah I do think the age of voting should stay at 18. LOL There's 1 thing I agree with. Take good care everyone & Bless you all! Love & hugs, |

I have to agree with the 18 age. I understand there will be disppointments, but if you stop to think that a car is a potentially deadly weapon, it makes sense that one shouldn't be allowed to have one before you can have a checking account or a credit card. It's also the biggest expense of your life. I'm not against 16 yr olds driving w/adults in the car, but I really don't think the majority are ready for the responsibility that goes with it. Just my opinion from experience w/ 2 driving daughters. |

Honestly, I don't think its a good idea. Then they are just bumping the age higher for inexperienced drivers. Instead of reckless 16 year olds, there will be reckless 18 year olds. |

Kitty...I'm 16 and have my license. I don't know what I would do without it! I have a job to go to and my parents sure aren't going to drive me back and forth to work until i'm 18! Waiting until after Highschool just wouldn't work.... |

Ha ha. This driving thing doesn't really effect me. I'm going to be eighteen and I don't have my license. My temps just expired. But people shouldn't change the driving age. That's dumb. Next thing you know, we won't drive until we're in our twenties! Sheesh... |
