Dogs and their mysterious ways (<>..<>) Alien

My dogs seem to have a connection with each other. When most people think of animals they think of creatures with small brains only interested in eating and sleeping; but I think they are more than that. I used to have a Border Collie named Shorty who lived a little over 14 years. Near his death we took him and put him inside our bathroom to keep him out of the cold. That is where he died, now our other dog who used to have no problem going in there dislikes that room. Even though she didn't whitness his death. She also acted very strange when my mom wrapped Shorty up in a sheet and took him outsite to burry him.

Most recently my other dog had to have surgery on his foot. So he had to leave for awhile. My Golden Retriever Goldie saw him go away in our car. All of the time he was gone we could notice she wasn't very active and layed around the yard all day. Then it was time for Max to come home. When we took him onto our yard we immediately noticed her become more alert. Now that Max is home she is back to her usual self.

I have heard many other cases of animals being aware of other pets deaths, and also their owners death. I once heard of a police dog who's police partner was killed and the dog just sat by the grave until the dog also died. So have any personal accounts of anything like this?

Date: 5/25/2002 1:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    I've noticed similar things. That could be what is wrong with one of my dogs as she always seems to be afraid of something. Buffy, my best friend of all the dogs I ever had hated German Shepherds! Even though Buffy Jo was only 45 pounds She ruled all the dogs and the house! Shortly after I got Gabby, Buffy had to be put down, (it still breaks my heart after these 5 years) but Gabby sometimes goes all weird while Renegade acts all happy cause he adored Buffy. It sure would explain alot. I had a Border Collie too and he passedat 14 also about 2 years before Buffy. They are the smartest dogs!

Date: 5/26/2002 10:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 16023    I used to have two birds Buster and Sally. But Buster died and Sally just went crazy. I'm with you...I think animals are alot smarter than what alot of people think. And also when Buster died, my dog Smokey was like 10 times more lovable. He didnt jump around or bark at me. He just came up and put his head in my lap. This was a interesting post...how many animals do you have? lol
Date: 5/26/2002 11:21:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 24732    Um I'm not exactly sure counting all the cows, but 2 indoor pets Rachel the cat and Max the dog, and 2 out door pets Goldie the dog and Midnight the cat. But I don't have as many as I used to I also had rabbits, fish, a frog, and a gerbil.
