Hello, I'm learning about self defense which you already know by the title. Well, my cousins from Vietnam came over like about 4 weeks ago and one of them knows Kung Fu or something similar like that. It's like Kung Fu but without the kicking and the punching. This type of martial arts is external, like, it's not really a mystical thing you just look at the human anatomy and learn which ways to weaken a person who is holding onto you. This type of martial art that I'm learning is to try to figure out ways to get out of someone's grasp. If anyone knows what type of Kung Fu this is please tell me. If any of you are experienced in any martial art can you tell me your experience, opinions, etc? What are the best classes that involve with less fighting and more deflecting?

thanks, JenTheLonely

I do karate I managed to get a 1st trophy in a tornament when a was 10 then i stopped going and Ive started it back up again with a different organization and they do more defense moves then my old club did so its quite interesting. Im sorry but im not sure what this form of martial arts is called. love,

There is one kind that concentrates on developing the chi so that the body can receive almost any type of deadly blow and somehow be unaffected. I think it is called JUKO RYU.
