Date: 5/21/2002 11:28:00 AM From Authorid: 3538 Oh yes, yes, yes!!I really agree on this one!! This may actually sound silly, well, very silly in fact, but I recently read a book called,"Elvis, Priscilla and I," by Michael Edwards and boy, did I get into that book big time!! For some reason, I felt the need to re-live and be in the position of Priscilla Presley. I don't know why, my boyfriend thinks I am nuts for living this fantasy of wanting to be Priscilla Presly when she first married Elvis. I want to know what it was like for her being married to Elvis. I even try to style my hair like she did when she married Elvis by looking at wedding pictures and I even tried to do my makeup like she did when she married Elvis on there wedding day and I took pictures of myself, too, trying to imitate her on my izone camera, lol. |

Date: 5/21/2002 12:17:00 PM From Authorid: 25183 I read The Handmaid's Tale, that was a bizzare book! I really enjoyed it. Just about every book I read makes me think about my life, the good and the bad. So I would have to say yes, a book can affect your life. |
Date: 5/21/2002 12:23:00 PM From Authorid: 277 I read the book "Anne of Green Gables" (don't remember the author) when I was about 10 years old. I think it did have an impact on my life, because the character Anne always spoke her mind. I always did prior to reading the book. But, after I read it I didn't hold back on telling people what I thought. |
Date: 5/21/2002 12:24:00 PM From Authorid: 277 LOL! V.C. Andrews? How does that book leave an impact? The mother did it with her uncle. Then the girl did it with her brother.... |
Date: 5/21/2002 12:42:00 PM From Authorid: 52360 If you want a book that has an impact, buy Blackbird by Jennifer Lauk. It's the most amazing true life story of a little girl who's mother is very ill. Then after you've finished that, buy the sequeal, Still Waters. They're beautiful, beautiful books. - Minimus x |
Date: 5/21/2002 1:11:00 PM From Authorid: 24924 DEFINITELY true. I don't want to think of how my life might have been, had I not been able to read many great books. "Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine; "Man's Search for Meaning " by Victor Frankl, "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey, just to name a few. |
Date: 5/21/2002 1:13:00 PM From Authorid: 9130 This is a good post i think that a book CAN have an affect on a person... If i can think of one that affected me, i'll post it later |
Date: 5/21/2002 1:16:00 PM From Authorid: 53182 I love to read, and i think books can have very drastic effects on people. Fiction helps people see other points of views and expand there horizon's. Lots of books have effected me like that. The Chocolate War, The Talisman, Dandilion Wine.....etc. -the lost boy |
