I've never heard anyone compare it to country before? I consider it pop music. I don't like country music, but I think I would rather listen to country music than Korn anyday. |

Well pop music being part of "popular" I still consider them pop music. As most bands are, they can call themselves rock or what ever they want. But they are still pop, because they use pop music techniques to sell their cd's. It's all about image, selling t-shirts, and being on record charts. Other genres of music don't need image to sell except pop music, like opera, classical, reggae, true punk rock, blue grass, blues, and country for the most part I could go on and on... There are different kinds of pop music, but it really is. I go into the store and where do I find Korn, under pop music, not country, not "americana" not RnB, but it's under pop. |

lol... Well Alien, Do you consider GodSmack, SlipKnot, Ozzy, Metallica, bands like that to be pop music too? If you dont know, "Pop" copied the image of Rock... Aerosmith, AC/DC, Metallica, Ozzy, megaDeath, Montley Crue, just to name a few, werent Pop,(which back in the day I dont think there was a pop...lol) And they sold Shirts, Keychains, posters, Autographed pictures, were in magazines, and on TV... And they weren't Pop, So just because in your store it is under pop, doesnt necessarily mean it is pop music hehe..... But its all cool *huge huggles* Love, Amanda |

Of course I consider GodSmack (such a copy cat of Alice in Chains), SlipKnot, Ozzy, and Metallica pop. Slipknot is really the best example of this. And yes those other bands also sold their image too so I consider them pop, not to the extent of the newer bands but yes that's exactly what they are. They were the popular rock band back then, and Korn is a pop-rock band now. And yes there was "pop" since the 50's, Elvis was the start of it all. Rock came from pop, it started out with Elvis and Buddy Holly. They were the "pop" in the older days. |
