Simpsons World of Springfield Interactive Figures and Environments - Weeping Giant review

If you think it's nerdy for a 19 year old guy to play with toys...then I'm probably about to lose your respect forever.

I remember when I first saw Simpsons action figures, being a big fan of the show, I remember looking at the $7.99 price tag and deciding "Eh...I'll wait for the price to go down and then I'll pick some up." OH MAN...if only I had known it didn't work like that. Being new to the collecting scene, I had no idea that this was a toy line that was mainly geared towards fanboys (and girls lol) like myself.

Some of those very same figures that I passed up on like Moe the bar tender and Krusty the Clown are selling on ebay for mucho dinero..over $50 in some cases. I didn't realize that once a figure was made, only a certain amount would be made...I now knew the pain of the Beanie Baby Mommas. I pass this info on, for those of you who...much like me, simply didn't know how this worked.

Being the Simpsons maniac that I am, once I learned that news, I ran into a local Toys R Us picked up a Bleeding Gums Murphy and everybody's favorite armed robber...Snake. Since then, my collection's picked up some but this post won't be fodder for my ego...anymore. There are a few of the figures that don't look quite right (Dr. Hibbert is one) but for the most part these little hunks of plastic look exactly like their animated counter parts. They're very.....(unmanly moment coming up)....beautiful...

The awesome thing about these figures is the "Interactive Environments". What this basically means is, each figure comes with a little...thing...on like their foot...and then you can sorta 'plug 'em in' to the set and they spout lines from the show. The downside is, these Environments are pricy. But...

Nothing makes me happier than Pin Pal Apu at the Bowl-A-Rama saying, "Make this spare, I give you free gellato!"

So in other words, if you've got the money to burn and you love the Simpsons, I'd advise picking some of these bad boys up. I wish I had started sooner...

Date: 5/14/2002 12:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 49739    I like the Simpson's too. When I was dating my ex husband (he's from Springfield Illinois) I used to joke around with people all the time, telling them that his next door neighbors were The Simpsons, lol. They actually use real businesses in Springfield in the cartoon. Pretty cool. HayKory22
Date: 5/14/2002 3:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 26733    Nice heads up. I love the Simpson when I was younger and I still do. When I watch old episodes of them today and I see the episodes of back then I realize how different the Simpson’s were from the past and from the now. It gradually got better and better, sound, picture, and theme wise.
Date: 5/14/2002 5:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 18527    When I was in Colombia and I told them I was going to apply for a job in Springfield VA, I got so many simpson jokes. I collected the Burger King simpsons halloween toys
Date: 5/14/2002 6:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 15157    We see these things all the time at Gamestop!...Ram starts looking for playstation games and I am lookin at the toys!...I bought a Rudolph the rednosed reindeer and the Santa Claus out of season...not to mention all the figures from the Matrix...Trinity and Neo.. I have even seen the simpson ones...sooo totally cute!...I also seen all the Ol Classic Movie Creatures like Frankenstein and Creature from the Black Lagoon! TOTALLY Awesome!
Date: 5/14/2002 7:39:00 AM  From Authorid: 24732    Oh I saw those in the store and wanted them, Grounds Keeper Willie, Bart, Barney, all of them! I even have the Simpsons trivia game and I always win.
Date: 5/14/2002 10:03:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    Wooo-hoo, 5 comments I'm proud of me. HayKory22, if your ex husband is next door neighboors with the Simpsons....would that make your ex-husband Ned Flanders by any chance? LOL
Date: 5/14/2002 10:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    I know what you mean Boom Boom, if I time it just right I can watch The Simpsons 3 times a day here. It's weird seeing how much the animation's changed..especially when you see something from the 1st Season and then watch something from the 7th or 8th season. Amazingness...lol thanks for commenting
Date: 5/14/2002 10:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    Hey Ketheria, I'm glad I DIDN'T know about the Simpsons Burger King Halloween toys...I would've made myself mad trying to get all of 'em. And Kiki, thanks for commenting, I've seen those classic Universal Monster ones too someday I wouldn't mind a couple of them...lol I wish I had as much money for as much useless jive there is that I want.
Date: 5/14/2002 10:15:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    Alien I sooo know what you mean...I was still able to get a Bart for $7.99 fortunately...but I had to go to the internet to get a Groundskeeper Willie, cost me $10 but that's not TOO bad considering some of the prices out there. I've seen the Simpsons Trivia in different stores before, but hesitated on picking it up. Oh well..maybe someday. LOL, thanks for commenting. Keep on keeping on and all that jive.
Date: 5/15/2002 8:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 25390    LMAO how did I miss this??? W.G. you are the coolest, and I never said any differently. I still want the interactive Moo Moo homer!!!!! he says, "mmmmm, doughnuts!!"
Date: 5/16/2002 12:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 48873    lol, I saw them at toys R us my friend wanted to get the comic book guy. She loved it when he said " No banging your head on the display case please!"
Date: 5/16/2002 2:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    I saw a Groundskeeper Willie in the store yesterday, I should have bought it. The latest ones to come out are Superintendent Chalmers, Uter the German kid, and Homer wearing a moomoo. I don't have enough $ to buy them all but I better start buying some because they only have the charachters for a little while. At the store they don't have Barney any more.
Date: 5/16/2002 5:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 48873    My friend owns Simpsons Clue and Monopoly i love to play them! She is a big simpsons fan. I would like to pick the simpsons trivia for myself. ^-^
Date: 5/17/2002 4:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    I LOVE the Simpsons! My brother is trying to get that Homer Radio. I love Homer, he rulez. *PunkStarChikk*
Date: 5/17/2002 7:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 19460    Hey i wonder how much the dolls are worth? I have Lisa, Bart and Homer. You know the bean filled ones with the big goofey plastic heads? lol I am also a Simpson's lover!
Date: 5/17/2002 9:55:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    First up Odd...I MUST make a confession...I finally broke down and got MuuMuu Homer with the Kitchen. It's everything you'd thought it would be...AND MORE!
Date: 5/17/2002 10:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    Alien, I feel your pain there...I don't have the money to get 'em all either so I basically try to get the ones I really love when possible. I lucked out lately though, we've got some K-Marts in this area that are closing down and I got an Elementary School for $6 with Skinner when I've seen it on the net for $99! LOL, that's the best deal I've ever gotten...so if K-Mart's are shutting down in your area, you might be able to find something like that since a lot of other stores are sending their merchandise from their back rooms to ones that are closing up. What I hate about this is that once something new is released, I know it's just a matter of time before prices jump up on the older ones forcing you in the position of get it while you can at retail...*sigh* Such a cruel cruel world...
Date: 5/17/2002 10:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    Hey Radio Head Girl, thanks for stopping on by. I've got the Simpsons Monopoly too, I was able to get it half price cuz of some promotional jive, I do love it so! Never played Simpsons Clue though, but it sounds awesome. *thumbs up*
Date: 5/18/2002 7:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 25390    W.G., you bought it and kept that VITAL information from me? How could you W.G.?? I thought I was special. *tear* but now I'm like all the others. *sniffle* Just don't be surprised if your moomoo homer disappears mysteriously and there is a foul stench lingering in the already polluted air...
Date: 5/18/2002 1:54:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    I'm sorry Odd...but I couldn't help myself....I did not want to tell you, due to the gigantic wave of jealousy that would sweep over you upon hearing the news, so I kept quiet....LIKE A FOX!
Date: 5/18/2002 1:56:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 42688    Hey Punkstar Chikk, thanks for your comment, I haven't heard anything about a Homer radio but I'd love to see what one looks like. LOL, and Froggy Baby I'm not sure of the exact amount but I imagine those dolls gotta be worth some sweet sweet dough. Especially the longer you hold onto 'em. Thanks for commenting
Date: 5/22/2002 10:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 52295    Ive been watching Simpsons since i was about 6 now im 16 and i still love it.I have a couple of simpsons action figures,i have Lisa,Homer,Bart,Marge,Maggie,Barnie,Cheif Wigam,Sunday Best Homer, and afew others that i ant remember right now. Date: 5/22/2002 10:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 25390    Hey WG! Like my new tag? LMAO!! Like a FOX!
Date: 6/2/2002 5:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 33531    I love The Simpsons. I love how in the show they will start with one thing and end up in a totally different situation. Like in one of the Christmas episodes (I think it was a Christmas episode) they started by going to a French-Canadian circus and then Bart and Lisa end up getting trapped in school! I love this show. It is so funny. The toys are neat. I've seen the one with Apu at the Kwik-E-Mart.
