A Question For Men Who Are Dog Owners -MaceyHope

hi there. i have worked in veterinary clinics for years now. it has always seemed to me that men who own dogs are far more hesitant to neuter their male dogs than women are. it is healthier for the dog, not too mention it helps control the pet population. so i don't see why you wouldn't neuter your dog.

to all you male usmers, why do you think men do not like to neuter their dogs? is it some kind of macho thing? please tell me cuz i just don't get it.

Date: 5/13/2002 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    It's called empathy. We wouldn't want it done to us so why should we do it to our best mate.
Date: 5/13/2002 11:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 49543    kurt, that would be anthropomorphicizing, not empathy. plus, they have these things called "neuticals" that are like little implants so that your dog still looks the same and he won't even know they are gone. heehee, those neutical things just crack me up, lol. luv -MaceyHope
Date: 5/13/2002 11:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 45630    believe me the dog would know if his knackers were gone. Also he wouldn't have the same urges and that for a guy is just wrong.
Date: 5/14/2002 1:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 52746    I think for the men, the mere thought of changing what's "down there" makes them want to cross their legs! Well, either that or maybe a man's subconcious attitude is to "sow his wild oats" so if he would be unwilling to do it to himself, he would be unwilling to put the dog through it.
Date: 5/14/2002 1:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    When I took my dog to be neutered, I kept making jokes about Renie being "clipped" to the vet and staff. Everyone laughed except the Doc and he kept grimacing and kinda bending over as if it was him being "fixed". That was funny itself watching a man being that sensitive. LOL!

Date: 5/14/2002 11:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 8941    This is an arguement that my husband and I go around and around with. Maybe it just hits too close to home...lol.
