Okay my bird (cockatiel) has fallen in love with me! I should be glad well I am happy it loves me and all but it tends to do its lil mateing calling thingy and its kinda imbarresing! I was at my grandparents with the bird and the bird started to do its mateing call thingy and I am like OMG stop you stupid bird! I have looked up info on this behavior and how I can stop it but I haven't found anything that tells me how to stop my bird from its lil thingy! All I found on the subject was I should be glad... my parents find this sooo funny! My mom keeps telling pet it when it wants to mate. I admit its cute that the bird choose me lol. So anyone have any suggestion perferably advice from someone who had, owns one of these birds or knows what they are talking about :) . Thanks for reading!

Date: 5/13/2002 2:36:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 48128    He I forgot to mention my bird is a she which is worse since I am a she to... lol my bird can't tell I am not a guy... I thought about getting a male for my bird but then I would have babies... and then they would die since I naturally have bad luck with pets plus I don't have the time for babies (baby birds) Also if I got a male for it I would need another cage. Also my bird I have currently would not be dependent on me and that can be bad since it wouldn't be as friendly
Date: 5/13/2002 4:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 51911    WHOAA!!! SAME HERE! I mean, i'm a guy, but my grandmas cockatiel does that "cartoon pervert wolf whistle" to my mom, my sister, my grandma and just bites and hisses at me... youre not the only one, i thought it was just a coincidence, its pretty weird having a perverted bird around

Date: 5/13/2002 7:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 51270    Hehe! I have a nanday conure, and he does this mating dance type thing and climbs up and runs all around my body with his wings spread and ruffled. He tries to preen me all the time, and is constantly snuggling agaist my neck or forehead when I'm sleeping or lying down. What can you do? I would like to know too. Sorry. I also have a cockatiel, though male, who does the mating call to me, and the other male bird too. Grins. Love, -Ajelae

Date: 5/14/2002 3:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 53549    LOL! yeah my cockatiel does that too! but its a male...he has just seemed to have fallen in love with me....cockateils just seem to get really attached to ther owner and love them like everything....one thing you could do is get another bird for it -male or female- so then itll grow attaced to the other one and not so much to you...that should work...Luv-ya Erin
